After an enjoyable and productive wait in the lounge, I headed to the gate for my flight to Newark.
Boarding
When I arrived at the gate a few minutes before the scheduled boarding time, I ended up waiting for nearly 15 minutes without any real explanation being given. Quite unusually for the United States, boarding began with just under a 10-minute delay, starting with a long pre-boarding process, followed by Group 1, which I was part of.
Cabin and welcome
The welcome at the door was very warm, and I entered the Domestic First cabin of this Boeing 737 MAX 8, configured with comfortable 2-2 recliner seats.
I settled into my seat, 03A. It was very comfortable, and a latest-generation IFE screen was available.
During boarding, a drinks tray was offered, and I chose an orange juice.
Boarding was completed a few minutes before the scheduled pushback time, and we departed on time from gate B26.
Service and catering
After a superb takeoff over South Boston, the service began as soon as the seatbelt sign was switched off.
I ordered a coffee with Baileys, which was promptly brought to me. The rest of the flight passed without incident.
Arrival and disembarkation
The taxi to our gate took around 10 minutes, and we disembarked roughly 15 minutes ahead of schedule.
Bottom line
A basic but high-quality service.
