Kimpton Paris Saint-Honoré : No upgrade but excellent service

For one of my Parisian stays, I booked the Kimpton Paris Saint-Honoré. A look back at this excellent stay.

Booking

I made the reservation at this property a few weeks before my arrival.

Parisian hotel prices have skyrocketed, and it is difficult to find a comfortable, well-located hotel for less than €300 a night.

The Kimpton Paris Saint-Honoré far exceeds this amount, and almost doubles it. Is this hotel worth a little more than 500 € per night? We will see.

Arrival

A few days before my arrival at the hotel, I noticed that I had been upgraded to an Essential room, a slight category above the one I had booked, namely the Single room.

I arrive at the hotel in the middle of the evening after an uneventful flight from London, in a private car with driver

The check-in line will be long, with not-so-smart guests and a lone receptionist.

Fortunately, one of his colleagues will arrive quickly and proceed with the arrival formalities.

The latter are very cordial. I inquired about the possibility of an upgrade and was politely told that I had already been upgraded one category. So be it, many rooms of superior category are available for sale.

Breakfast was already included in my rate, points were automatically credited the morning I arrived.

Room

My room, 507, was located on the 5th floor of the property.

The hotel being an assembly of several buildings, there are multiple subfloors which required the presence of several elevators to ensure a “step-free” access to all rooms.

Mine was located on the side of the hotel, quieter, overlooking rue Daunou.

For a standard or nearly standard room, it is a nice size.

The entrance leads directly to the night space. A well-stocked (and daily renewed) minibar was installed on the left, and topped with a Nespresso machine and ecological capsules (I will use my own capsules). Opposite, a coffee table and a large armchair are set up, and a generous welcome service (a whole bottle of wine) has been prepared for me.

On the right, the very comfortable king size bed, equipped with bedside tables on both sides with adapted connectivity. A large closet is available on one side of the bed, and two large windows on the other side.

Finally, the bathroom, of correct size, is equipped with a separate toilet and a large shower. The washbasin is quite small, but sufficient for a single person.

The decoration is just perfect, totally to my taste.

To finish, a video tour:

Hotel facilities

For a hotel of this size, facilities are plentiful: an indoor pool, a spa and a fitness room are available.

Gym

I will use the fitness room every morning of my stay at the hotel.

The latter, although blind, is of quite satisfactory size for a hotel of this capacity.

IMG_0110

The equipment is state-of-the-art and the free weight area is quite adequate.

Indoor pool

I won’t have the pleasure of visiting the indoor pool but will take some pictures. It is quite small but sufficient to refresh oneself after a day of exploration of the city-light.

Spa

On my arrival, I booked a treatment at the hotel’s spa, located on the same floor as the pool, and operated by Codage.

On Saturday morning, I will benefit from a 90 minutes treatment, which will be excellent… I will even fall asleep for 45 minutes!

The prices are nevertheless not sweet, nearly 250€ for this treatment!

Food options

The property has two main dining outlets: the Montecito restaurant located on the first floor near the lobby and the Sequoia rooftop.

Montecito Restaurant – Breakfast service

Almost every morning I would have breakfast at the Montecito restaurant, located on the first floor of the hotel.

The latter consists of a very well-stocked buffet, with hot drinks served at the table, as well as eggs that can be ordered.

I will take a small selection each morning.

Montecito Restaurant – Lunch Service

One of the lunches, I will have lunch at the hotel with a friend. The service will be very attentive, but the menu is quite short and does not really please me.

I would have a caesar salad that would be excellent, and a dessert that would be just as good.

Montecito Restaurant – Bar

Before I leave, I will have a coffee at the bar with a friend. Perfect service and excellent drinks.

Sequoia Rooftop – Bar

If you come to the Kimpton without trying the rooftop, you’re missing out! The view is absolutely exceptional… On the other hand the menu is extremely limited.

Service

Apart from the somewhat chaotic arrival, the service in the hotel is very good, very attentive. Nothing to complain about.

Departure

The departure formalities were simple, and I was able to enjoy the room until after 3pm thanks to the late check-out offered by the hotel at the time of my arrival.

I left my luggage at the concierge for a few hours while I walked around.

Bottom line

An excellent first stay in this beautiful Parisian hotel. I hope to receive a real upgrade on my next visit!
