The Westin Paris: Well received this time, but thorough renovation necessary

After an ultra-disappointing flight on Air France and a busy day at work, I arrived at my booked hotel, the Westin Paris. I have stayed at this hotel twice and was very disappointed. But the rate was rather low this time, and not all hotels had opened in the capital yet. So here I am, once again in this property on rue de Rivoli.

Today’s itinerary

Booking

I booked this hotel a few weeks before my arrival in Paris. Thanks to my preferential rate, I can get a night’s stay for less than 250€, which is still acceptable for my two-night professional stay.

Arrival

A few days before my arrival, no upgrades were available in the application. But on the morning of my check-in, I noticed that I’d been upgraded to a Prestige Suite, one of the property’s highest categories. Good, and especially first time in a suite for me in this hotel.

I arrive in the late afternoon to check-in. I’m asked to show my proof of fare, but my room card is already ready. I’ll choose breakfast as the Ambassador benefit.

Room

My room was on the fifth floor of the property. Unfortunately, this is not one of the suites with a view of the capital.

This suite can be entered through two doors leading off the hallway, one into the bedroom, the other into the lounge area. When you enter the lounge area, on the right, you’ll find the first bathroom, which is fully equipped, even if it could do with a well-deserved renovation.

Opposite is the lounge itself, with a desk, large window, sofa and coffee table. A small TV is also available. The whole place is in an unacceptable state of maintenance, with doors missing and all the furniture very, very worn.

The bedroom area is in no better condition, with missing doors and a tired bathroom.

Finally, here is a video tour:

Hotel facilities

The fitness room is located in the basement of the property, and is accessible via a dedicated elevator. I won’t have the opportunity to use it during my stay.

Food options

The property has several food and beverage outlets, including one on the patio at the hotel entrance, and another, Le First, on the Rue de Rivoli. I’ll be using this restaurant for breakfast service only.

Le First restaurant, where breakfast is served

For the two mornings of my stay, I’ll be having breakfast at Le First restaurant, which seems to be open only for breakfast service at the moment.

Good-quality charcuterie

I’m greeted very professionally, and seated at one of the tables near the window. Not being very hungry, I’ll just have some pastries and a coffee, but the buffet is of very good quality, with a very wide choice of dishes. Here are a few photos, but I couldn’t take many as I was in a hurry.

Departure

Departure formalities were extremely fast and the invoice was accurate. It will be sent to me a few hours later by e-mail.

Bottom line

A very good stay. On the other hand, renovation is becoming very, very urgent!
