Air France – KLM ratifies the rationalization of its fleet

In a terse press releaseAir-France KLM is announcing, as we anticipated today, a major change in the current orders for Boeing 787s andAirbus A350s of its two legacy airlinesAir France and KLM, assigning all future deliveries of Boeing 787s to KLM and Airbus A350s to Air France.

More and more Boeing 787-9s like this one and 787-10s will invade Dutch skies

This is already a start: KLM will not have to operate a new type of aircraft like the Airbus A350, whose entire order will go to Air France, the group’s French subsidiary.

Will the Air France 787s resist the Ben Smith wave?

However, nothing about the 787s already delivered to Air France: they will remain a priori in the fleet, even if the group does not exclude any possibility, in particular the transfer of existing 787s from Air France to KLM, or the rapid withdrawal of Airbus A380s whose retrofit has not yet been decided.
