Moxy London Heathrow Airport : finally affordable design?

As part of a relaxing weekend in the English capital, I stayed at the Moxy London Heathrow before an early morning flightfrom the eponymous airport.

New hotel chain for me, new concept. And an unbeatable price to test it!

Booking

Being alone in Paris for a weekend, I took the opportunity to book a short weekend in London, which is easy to reach and offers cheap business class rates on Air France. Once the flights were found, I decided to split my stay in two and stay the last night near Heathrow airport, my flight leaving at 6am from terminal 4.

However, it should be noted that at Heathrow, even if a hotel has this name, it is not necessarily accessible directly from the terminals. However, there is a paid shuttle that can reach these properties in less than 15 minutes.

So I decided to test this Marriott Group chain, which will be merging SPG and Ritz-Carlton accounts as of August 1, 2018 (and thus qualifying nights).

For less than £60, I book a room for one night.

Arrival

I arrive in the afternoon of Sunday after a journey by subway and then by bus. It should be noted that the hotel is not easily accessible from central London, and the area in which the hotel is located is not of a very good attendance. I do not recommend a single woman to access it by any other means than the Hotel Hoppa shuttle or by Uber.

The hotel lobby is huge: it is the check-in area, the bar, the restaurant, the business center and the game room.

The welcome is warm. I was given an upgrade to a Junior Suite and my welcome drink.

Please note: there is no telephone, refrigerator or safe in the room, so this is not a hotel for long stays.

Room

My room was located on the second floor of the property. The view was not particularly good.

Upon entering, one enters directly into the bedroom part of the suite, visibly designed for disabled people. The bed is quite comfortable, in the high average of modern hotels.

In the lounge area, which is quite small, the furniture is sober and tasteful, unlike some design hotels that are completely crazy and cheap.

The bathroom is large but again designed for the mobility disabled and the shower is therefore unbearable with a curtain that involves drenching everything…

A rather pleasantroom for the price paid.

To finish, a visit in video:

Restaurants

Leaving very early the next morning, I could not test the breakfast offer.

Nevertheless, I had dinner at the hotel while enjoying my welcome drink. An edible pizza but not cooked enough. The employees seem nice but they are not the cooks of the century…

Hotel facilities

The hotel has a well-equipped fitness roomon the first floor of the property. I didn’t have the time to try it unfortunately.

Departure

I used the mobile check-out, a simple procedure, before jumping in an Uber.

Bottom line

A great discovery that this chain, which offers a no-frills experience to travelers who do not seek luxury. And sometimesit’s good to get back to basics!
