Because of a not really optimal connection at the airport of Jakarta I had to spend one night in town. After my previous excellent stay at theKeraton at the Plaza I chose this time the Westin Jakarta. Our experience at the Westin, a brand that is looking for a new lease on life, was mixed with the best as at theWestin Singapore and the worst as at the Westin in Honolulu. So let’s see how it goes here.
I had booked the transfer through the hotel concierge and the driver was waiting for me in the arrival hall at the agreed time. It’s a rush hour and it will take me more than an hour to get to the city center but considering the poor hotel offer around the airport I had no choice.
As soon as I got out of the car, my luggage was taken care of and I was escorted to the reception located on the 50th floor.
Having as usual made the check-in online on the SPG application I only have to introduce myself, sign a paper and I am given the room key that was waiting for me. By the way, the protocol of the loyalty program is followed to the letter and I am informed that I have been upgraded to a “Renewal Room”, the largest room type before the suite. Standard suites being still available I am a little disappointed but well…
I am accompanied to my room.
Reception, corridors, everything is modern and of a good taste relatively sober. A good omen for the continuation.
The Renewal Room at the Westin Jakarta
The Renewal Room is a (very) large corner room.
It opens onto a corridor that leads to the room itself.
On the side there is a door to a very large dressing room.
Then the room itself.
It is very large with a nice desk area and a good sized lounge area.

A basket of fruit was waiting for me.
When it looks comfortable…. it often is.
The large windows offer a beautiful view of Jakarta.
The bathroom includes a large bathtub and a large separate shower.

Once the curtains are up, we have, as from the room, a superb view of Jakarta. Unfortunately it’s night time.
The bathroom is really big.
It also overlooks the dressing room which offers a “shortcut” to the hallway without going back through the bedroom.

Excellent club lounge and classless bar at the Westin Jakarta
The Westin Jakarta has a club lounge. At the entrance I am logically asked for my room number to verify that I have access to it. Then the staff will only address me by my name. Nice.
There’s plenty of room…
The buffet offer is really rich.
Rich offer, attentive and impeccable service, the overall service is excellent. The meal served in business on Garuda on the flight that brought me from Bangkok to Jakarta having also been copious, I will dispense with trying one of the restaurants of the hotel and will go and try the bar of which the staff spoke highly of.
Located on the top floor of the hotel it is visibly popular, amongst the “places to be” in Jakarta.
It is dark, the music is very loud and the clientele is generally young and not very well behaved. It feels like a bad W hotel. The cocktails and creations are not bad but without being exceptional. One drink will be enough before I run away.
Why not go for a swim to relax before going to bed?

The water temperature is good.
After a few laps and a break on a deckchair I will go to bed. It’s getting late and I have to leave for the airport at 6am the next morning. But not without making a video of this beautiful place.
The night will be short but I will find the courage the next day at noon to go to the gym before a 14h30 flight to London.
It is quite large and overall well equipped. During the day the view must be beautiful.

Now it’s time to pack up, not without regret. I would have really appreciated to stay a little longer at the Westin Jakarta as I was so delighted with the service.
I do the mobile check-out on the SPG app and find the hotel driver directly downstairs without having to go through the front desk. Easy and efficient.
The Westin Jakarta: an excellent choice!
Less expensive than the Keraton and less luxurious, the Westin Jakarta is still an excellent choice at less than 150 euros per night. There are times when one is happy to spend only a few hours in a hotel and quickly leave it, here I left with real regret. Maybe another time…
