ALoft Munich: Perfect combination of quality, location and price

As part of a business trip to Bavaria, I decided to test 4 different hotels in Munich. Besides Le Méridien, located in front of the train station and already masterfully reviewed by Bertrandand whose stay confirms his initial good impression, the second hotel of my journey is the ALoft Munich, located on the opposite sidewalk, thus also in front of the central station.

Booking

I made the reservation on the SPG mobile app for iPhone, using my Corporate Fare. I don’t use my company’s Self Booking Tool: the complexity of travel policies and various approval channels have absolutely inoculated me.
For 84,15 € the night, here is my reservation made, totally flexible.

Arrival and lobby

Arriving from the Meridien just across the street, I didn’t have much trouble locating the hotel. Nevertheless, when you leave the station, you can’t miss it.
So I arrive at the establishment shortly before 1pm, and go to the SPG counter of the reception, designed in a circular way:

The receptionist tells me that the hotel has upgraded me to the best category in the hotel, a Sweet Suite located on the 6th floor. A nice surprise, since upgrades are not normally a benefit of the SPG loyalty program at ALoft hotels.
I then have to choose between the 250 welcome points and the breakfast: despite a perfectible experience of the breakfast at the ALoft Brussels Schuman, I decide to give it a chance. And 250 points was not a panacea anyway!

Before going up to my room, a short visit of the lobby which was the object of a very special effort.
Some vintage seats:

The self-service catering area, to be consumed on the spot or to be taken away in the room:

Room

As indicated by the receptionist, the assigned room was located on the 6th floor of the hotel, and quite far from the elevators.

To begin, a short virtual visit:

The suite was quite spacious. As usual in the hotels of the chain, we enter directly near the bathroom.

In front of the sink, a closet is available, with bathrobes (I guess it’s due to the fact that it is a suite) and Nespresso machine, great!

Although limited in size, this bathroom is nice. It is separated from the toilet and shower area by a polished glass door.

The room is spacious and very pleasant. The tones, quite masculine, suit me perfectly.

Next to the bed, a FatBoy that is absolutely delicious to work on, I adhere!

The lounge area is also very pleasant, especially for a few drinks with friends!

Hotel facilities

The hotel has a well-equipped fitness room, although these are not top of the line, it does the trick. Above all, the place is new and very clean, it is finally the basics of a fitness room that are respected.

Restaurants

The hotel does not have a restaurant as such, but a breakfast area in the morning transformed into a snacking area in the afternoon and evening.

The breakfast buffet, free for SPG Platinum members, is quite good for a budget hotel:

Conclusion

A hotel of excellent quality, which works perfectly for me. The only thing missing is SPG Keyless, but I have no doubt that this feature will arrive soon, as the room locks are all touchless already.
