I won’t hide it: my wife and I have had a bit of trouble finding quality restaurants since we moved to Boston: apart from the monotonous steakhouses, there aren’t many restaurants with quality products and an original menu that doesn’t systematically fall into the Michelin-starred or equivalent category..
But by chance, we came across this restaurant, Boqueria, located literally two minutes from our home.
Let’s take a look back at this pleasant experience.
The concept
Boston’s Boqueria is part of a mini-chain of eponymous restaurants focusing on a Spanish menu of tapas and paellas, in a very modern atmosphere.
The setting
The setting is very appealing, with modern furnishings in a dark atmosphere. Various spaces are available, mainly on high tables, sometimes with banquettes and booths, sometimes on low tables. A counter is also available.
The menu
The menu is, in my opinion, very nice.
We tested both the dinner and brunch (weekend lunch) services, with a similar tapas menu, apart the egg-based dishes available for brunch and the rice-based ones (various paellas) available for dinner.
The meal and the dishes
To start the meal, I had a negroni, which was excellent and perfectly balanced.
I then moved on to a few tapas, including the excellent tortilla and the croquetas with ham and mushrooms, a real killer.
The grilled octopus was excellent, as well as the squid ink paella.
The service
The service was very pleasant, but some dishes took a while to be delivered to the table.
The atmosphere
The atmosphere was very pleasant, with music that was a little loud at times, but with customers behaving themselves.
Bottom line
An excellent experience, which brought us back to the restaurant half a dozen times in 3 months.
