It is now the last step of this one-way trip that takes us to the United States… What an adventure!
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Boarding
We left the lounge well after the theoretical boarding time: we waited for the boarding indication on the monitors installed in the lounge before leaving.
The gate we are leaving from today is located halfway between the lounge and the end of the pier.
Boarding has begun when we arrive at the gate: we went through the SkyPriority line, but I was stopped as planned to get Muffin’ crate compliance form.
Then, I entered the plane through gate 1L, like most of the passengers, misdirected by the ground staff while the signage invites Premium Economy and Economy passengers to use gate 2L.
Cabin and welcome
Upon arrival at the gate, the flight attendant directed us to our seats. A small handwritten welcome note was placed on our two seats with some chocolates, a nice attention.
The cabin is well equipped but seems already worn out, surprising for an aircraft that is less than 10 years old.
There is no luggage compartment in the middle, so we were forced to use compartments located at the window!
During boarding, the main cabin attendant and the Business cabin attendant came to welcome us, and reassure us about the Muffin load on board as well as the temperature and the pressurization of the hold.
While we are still on the ground, a welcome drink is distributed, as well as the menus, now very elegantly presented in a very attractive A4 format.
The amenity kits were also distributed, the design was nice but they are not very well furnished.
Finally, just before pushing back, the catering ordered previously online, in this case the vegetarian dish for me and the beef for my wife, is confirmed by the crew.
Then comes the very good safety video during the push-back and the taxi to the runway.
Service and catering
On this flight, two catering services were offered: a full lunch and a cold snack.
The first service starts with an aperitif after setting the tablecloth: I took a Bellevoye Whisky, that was great quality. The amuse-bouche was excellent.
I will watch a very funny movie during the meal.
Then came a tray served with the starter and the salad. The salad was not nice, and the starter was so-so. The shrimp tartar was average, but the avocado mousse was very nice.
I drank Chablis with the starter, but it was unfortunately served at room temperature.
The starter was then served, and the pre-ordered dish arrived: the cauliflower was perfect, and the truffle sauce excellent. I will take a refill of Chablis, which this time was served at the right temperature.
The purser offered me some cheese, which I accepted.
Then, for dessert, I chose a vanilla and strawberry ice cream, served with an excellent mint tea and a green chartreuse, some refills made me doze for an hour.
Between the two services, I ordered a few espressos that were brought to me promptly.
After watching a few movies, the second service was served. It will be mediocre.
Connectivité et divertissement
I did not use the Wifi surfing package, but only the messaging package on my phone, which worked very well.
The Air France IFE was, as usual, excellent in terms of content. I watched 3 movies that were very good, a opportunity for me to catch up on French movies
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrived in Boston Logan on time, but very worried about the status of Muffin.
We disembarked quickly, and despite our visa that required stamping, immigration was very fast and we were be able to wait for Muffin’s arrival at oversized luggage. She arrived quickly, and without any issue… Phew!
The numerous luggage will arrived quickly, and after an agriculture inspection at our request, we were released towards the exit!
Bottom line
An excellent flight, and a very careful crew. Especially, the Air France teams were very reassuring with us during the whole trip. I recommend Air France without reservation if you have to travel with an animal in the hold.
