Restaurant Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay: Too bad the “Front of the house” is so bad!

For my birthday, my wife decided to treat me to a meal at this restaurant from the Gordon Ramsay family. A look back at this gastronomic experience.

The concept

The concept is quite original: an Asian restaurant with a gastronomic accent. A touch of hipness detracts from the friendly atmosphere.

The setting

The setting is quite elaborate, and the property is quite plush and hip. The hostesses at the entrance are very unpleasant, staring you up and down before seating you at the reserved table. Quite unpleasant.

The menu

The menu is extensive, with a mix of dishes to share, small tapas-style starters and more elaborate dishes. There’s no menu, everything is really for sharing.

The meal and the dishes

You’ll find some photos of the dishes below. The chicken was so good that we asked for a second helping. To make sure you aren’t hungry any more, expect to pay at least £60-70 per person.

The service

Apart from the reception staff, the service is quite good, attentive and warm. It’s not a Michelin-starred property, but it’s not undignified either.

The atmosphere

The atmosphere is pretty hip, with a DJ mixing near the toilets. Interesting metaphor…

Bottom line

A good culinary experience, a little marred by the overly hip atmosphere for my taste. We’ll return, but surely at noon!
