Renaissance Paris Vendôme: Top-quality service

Back to travelling to Paris, and therefore back to staying in Paris. This time, it’s the Renaissance Paris Vendôme, and, once again, I’ll spare you the Eurostar journeys, this time without a hitch and without delays, but not without PCR tests (yes, my nose is in knots!).

Booking

I made the reservation 3 weeks before my arrival, with a rate that was certainly high in relation to my professional budget, but far, far below the normal rate for this luxury hotel, which boasts 5 stars on its façade.

I booked this hotel, located a stone’s throw from the Tuileries and Rue de Rivoli, for two nights at a rate of around €170 per night.

Arrival

Until I arrive, the app won’t show an upgrade, only my original reservation, the entry-level room.

In the days leading up to my arrival, I’ll be talking to reception several times about various issues, such as my arrival time and the use of the spa.

I arrive at the hotel mid-afternoon, after an uneventful Eurostar journey.

The common areas, near reception, are bright and airy.

I’m taken care of immediately, and check-in is done seated. I’m asked to show a proof of fare.

The hotel lobby is very pleasant

I’m given an upgrade to a Parisian Studio Suite and a breakfast menu. It will be served in the room every morning.

Room

My studio suite was located on the 3rd floor of the property, at the corner of the hotel.

The room’s door will close very poorly throughout my stay, and I’ll have to slam it very hard every time I leave the room.

The view from my room was magnificent

To the left of the front door is the toilet, separate from the bathroom.

I like the toilet separate from the bathroom

Opposite is the bathroom, which could do with a good renovation. It’s clean, but needs to be broken up and redone. The shower smells awful, and the plumbing seems quite clogged.

The shower will smell terrible

The only strong point: the toiletries are of excellent quality.

High-quality toiletries

Finally, the bedroom/suite is very spacious. Two large cupboards are arranged on the right, surrounding a stylish desk.

A very pleasant workspace

4 windows provide plenty of natural light. On the left, the extremely comfortable king-size bed, one of the most comfortable I’ve tried in the last 2 years.

IMG_1683
I’ll return just for the comfort of the bed!

Then, near the windows, two coffee tables and two large armchairs.

The suite’s relaxation area

The minibar has been emptied due to the pandemic, but an espresso machine is still available.

To finish, a video tour:

Hotel facilities

The hotel is equipped with a fitness room (closed at the time of my visit due to the pandemic), and a spa, which can be reserved for 30-minute sessions.

IMG_1696
Access to the spa is from level -1

I’ll be taking advantage of this privatization on the evening of my arrival, and will have to wait a few extra minutes for the equipment to be cleaned before the start of my slot.

IMG_1697
The spa is obviously without staff
IMG_1698
A very nice attention when I arrived at the spa

As the pool is closed, and although the initiative is welcome, the area is very limited with a sauna and a hammam. 15 minutes is more than enough.

Food options

The hotel’s bar and restaurant are closed due to containment. Nevertheless, breakfast is served in the room, and the restaurant’s kitchen offers short but high-quality room service.

I’ll be enjoying it two nights in a row, with friends.

The beakfast is also of excellent quality, as you will see:

Departure

Departure formalities were straightforward and carried out quickly. The invoice will be sent to me by e-mail.

Bottom line

An excellent choice, this time for a very good price. Hopefully, I’ll be able to return under better conditions.
