After two enjoyable days in the Loire Castles, it’s time to head back to Paris. Our train is a little late, however, so we set about modifying the return journey and are able to catch the earlier train.
As a reminder, here is the booked itinerary:
Purchase and booking
The exchange was very simple via the Trainline application through which we booked our tickets. Not cheap, but it was last minute.
Boarding
We arrive at the station about twenty minutes before our scheduled departure, after dropping off our car at Hertz.
The train departs from Tours, and we await its arrival.
Cabin
The TGV Atlantique cabin in car 2 is made up of mini-compartments, which is quite pleasant.
The latter, on the other hand, is simply disgusting. The dirt is so stubborn that it’s never been cleaned. In COVID times, it doesn’t look good.
The SNCF’s response is… distressing.
Service and catering
No service and bar closed on such a short route.
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrive at Paris-Montparnasse station on time, and take the metro home.
Bottom line
Shame to see such filth on the train during COVID. Uneventful journey. The air conditioning was inoperative in one of the cars.
