Ryanair gets slammed for optimistic vaccine ad

Tomorrow we’ll all be vaccinated and free to travel as we please? It’s what many would like, and a dream that Ryanair has capitalized on in a recent advertising campaign called “Jab an go!

But it wasn’t to everyone’s taste. Following the broadcast of a TV advert, thousands of people lodged a complaint, claiming that the advert was misleading because the efficacy of vaccines was unknown, and that it suggested a near future that was too bright to be honest.

For the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority, this was too much, and the ad had to be withdrawn on the grounds that there was no reason to believe that vaccination campaigns would be sufficiently advanced by the summer.

Although the advertisements have now disappeared, there is still a non-advertising, and therefore authorized, video which, as early as January, gave us an idea of the airline’s future communications strategy.
