Orly-Pointe-à-pitre: the 4th busiest air route in the world!

The impact of the health crisis on air transport has been dramatic, but for want of a better word, we can also poke fun at some of the unrealistic situations it has caused, shuffling the cards as borders open and close.

OAG has just published its ranking of the world’s busiest air routes in February 2021, and it’s nothing like what we’re used to seeing in normal times.

With the USA still “well closed” and the London-Dubai route suddenly halted, the route between Orlando and San Juan (Puerto Rico) is the busiest international route in the world this month.

Note the 4th rank taken by the Orly-Pointe à Pitre route, which has never been at such a feast and won’t stay there once things return to a certain normality. Double irony…one wonders why it’s considered an inside line!

If we focus on Europe, we also have a few surprises in store.

We note that our Orly-Pointe à Pitre is mentioned once again, as well as Fort de France-Orly, proof that the French have made the most of their overseas regions and territories to get away from it all, and that the restrictions implemented in Spain seemed more liveable than those implemented in France.
