COVID-19 Flying Blue extends statuses for a second year in a row

While Air France had been slow to announce anything in 2020 following the confinement, Flying Blue, the loyalty program of the French airline and its Dutch colleague, is taking the lead in the face of continuing political measures to stem the COVID-19 crisis.

So, in view of the measures preventing travelers from crossing borders, Flying Blue has decided to extend the status protection package into 2021.

According to the Air France press office:

  • Elite and Elite Plus members with a qualification period ending between March and December 2021 will have their status maintained for a further period (i.e. extended by one year).
  • The XP surplus of Elite and Elite Plus members with a qualifying period ending between March and December 2021 will be maintained.

On this last point, we’ve received a lot of feedback from some of our readers, and we’ll be sure to keep an eye on the practical implementation of this rollover maintenance.
