Also as part of my business trip to Stockholm, I stayed at the Courtyard Stockholm, located in a residential area in the city center.
Here’s a look back at this pleasant stay, and a reminder of the itinerary:
Booking
I booked my stay using the Marriott Bonvoy app and a non-refundable public rate. This rate became refundable thanks to the COVID-19 crisis. Anyway, for €72 all-in, it was a real bargain!
A few days before my arrival, I check-in online using the application.
The day before, I see I’ve been upgraded to a Superior Room, very good, it’s the second best category.
A few hours before my arrival, I noticed a new upgrade to the Studio Suite, the highest category… Excellent!
Arrival
I arrive at the hotel from Arlanda airport by Uber. The airport is almost 50 minutes from the city. The journey therefore takes about forty minutes without traffic.
I go straight to check-in. The receptionist carried out my check-in in a very professional manner in a matter of seconds, given that I had carried out the mobile check-in a few days earlier.
She confirms my upgrade to the hotel’s only suite, and asks me to choose the Platinum benefit, and I choose points, with breakfast automatically included for Platinum and above (extra benefit provided by the hotel).
So I head for my room on the 11th and top floor of the hotel (which officially has no number).
Room
The suite is located on the top floor of the hotel.
The entrance is spacious, with a large bathroom on the left (but with a lot of wasted space).
The floor is heated and the temperature is adjustable.
The shower is very spacious, although the showerhead could be of better quality and the pressure higher.
The toiletries are of the highest quality, by Rituals, and this is the only room that benefits from them.
To the right of the bathroom, a balcony offers a superb view of the city.
Passing back through the entrance, you enter the lounge area and then the bedroom. This is the only room in the hotel with a superb bay window offering a superb view from the bed.
The bed is extremely comfortable.
An espresso machine is available.
On the desk to the right of the bed, a chocolate bar is laid out as a welcome gift.
A final video:
Hotel facilities
The hotel has a fitness room on the 3rd floor of the property, but I won’t have had the chance to use it.
Food options
The property has a bar and restaurant on the first floor, right next to reception.
Social distancing measures are in force in both spaces
Bar
After my meeting and on the way back to the hotel, I decide to relax at the bar. As is customary in Sweden, orders are placed directly at the bar and payment is immediate. I order one of the Signature cocktails made with cranberry juice.
It was excellent. Prices are in line with Swedish prices, no more, no less. No snacks served with the cocktail, however, and the service isn’t very attentive.
Breakfast service
Due to measures to combat COVID-19, breakfast is served at the table instead of the buffet.
Each customer is given a sheet to choose from.
I choose a café latte, apple juice and a ham and cheese omelette, as well as sausages and bacon. Everything was excellent.
Departure
Departure formalities were a breeze, completed in less than 30 seconds. The invoice was immediately sent to me by e-mail.
Bottom line
An excellent stay in this Courtyard, correctly priced, and with a superb experience and in particular as a loyal customer. The kind of hospitality we’d like to see more often, straight to the point, where you never feel like you’re bothering anyone… Is it that difficult?
