Review : AC Hotel Valencia

In a very particular context, since it was the requalification of my Marriott Ambassador status, and especially the acquisition of the lifetime Titanium status (which was only possible in 2018), I chose to stay at the AC Valencia hotel in Spain, for 30 nights.

The long-awaited card obtained thanks to this stay.

I chose to do it in its entirety to secure the credit of the nights on my account. I needed to reach 750 nights before the end of 2018 to qualify for this status.

A look back at this unusual stay.

Booking

I booked this stay on the Marriott Bonvoy app, using points accumulated over the last few years.

I chose this hotel specifically to consume as few points as possible while staying for a period of 30 nights which allowed me to reach the number of nights required for Lifetime status.

Arrival

I arrive at the hotel by metro from the airport. The hotel is located approximately 10 minutes from the nearest metro station on the line that serves the airport directly.

The entrance to the hotel from the outside

I arrived at the hotel in the late afternoon and was quickly taken care of at the front desk just after someone who was also checking in.

They confirm the length of my stay, which is 30 nights, and ask me which Elite benefit I want to choose. I choose the eight euro per day restaurant credit, as the breakfast benefit is not available at AC hotels.

Numerous relaxation areas are available in the lobby

So I head for the lifts to get to my room on the top floor of the property.

The rather plain decoration of the hotel’s corridors

Room

The room assigned for this 30-nights stay was a standard room.

A little gift and a letter from the hotel manager are waiting for me

As in all AC hotels, the entrance leads straight to the bathroom. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub, toilet and washbasin. The decoration is in dark wood tones, and green tinted glass.

The decoration can sometimes be of questionable taste in the bathroom, with this black and green marble

The room is quite small. The king size bed is not very comfortable and takes up most of the room. The bed faces a television set, and a small coffee table with a service on it.

Space is quite limited around the large bed
The view is quite clear
Not even a real desk in this room
The welcome gift, quite basic for a 30-night stay…

Not a room to stay 30 nights!

Hotel facilities

The hotel has a fitness room on the top floor of the property.

Some mats to train in front of the view (OK, you can’t see anything at night)

I’ll have a look around, just to take some pictures for this report.

However, the equipment is limited

The property does not have a pool or spa, which is normal for a hotel of this category.

Catering

The hotel has a restaurant in the hotel lobby and a bar with a terrace.

The bar itself is very elegantly decorated

I did not have breakfast in the hotel, given the emergency that awaits me in Normandy and which will require me to leave the hotel much sooner than expected.

However, I will have dinner at the hotel before spending a night. The property has a rather simple menu with local dishes.

The table was well set and the service was perfect
A delicious grilled octopus

As you can see, the octopus was excellent.

A rather light dessert to finish this meal

Prices are in line with Spanish standards, slightly above city prices, but it is a hotel!

Departure

I will use the mobile departure formalities when leaving. However, as these features did not work, I had to contact the hotel by email to check out remotely.

Bottom line

A rather nice hotel, and one that allowed me to achieve my Lifetime Titanium status with Marriott. The staff are really nice, but the rooms are a little bit small. The prices being low, I don’t expect more!
