Review : Austrian Senator Lounge – Vienna

Since my flight to Budapest is delayed by an hour, I have time to visit the Senator lounge in Vienna (Schengen), located on the F/G gate level, upstairs.

Terminal

Vienna is an easy terminal to travel through, although the distances can be long. Nevertheless, it is quite easy to find your way around and the Austrian lounges are easily accessible by following the path to the G doors.

Reception

Instead of one lounge, there are actually three lounges for Austrian in the Schengen area:

  • A Business lounge, available to non-Gold business class passengers on Star Alliance, or for Frequent Traveller passengers on Miles&More (LH Group);
  • A Senator lounge, accessible to passengers travelling in First Class outside the LH Group and for Star Gold passengers;
  • A First lounge, accessible to LH Group First Class passengers and HON Circle members at Miles&More.
The gateway to paradise?

I was greeted very warmly by an agent, who invited me to use the Senator lounge with my guest.

The press is available at the entrance of the lounge

Lounge design

Although rather simple, the lounge’s decoration is quite successful. The brown wooden floor gives a very pleasant warmth.

The decoration is rather elegant and in line with the airline’s colour code (red)

The lounge is divided into two parts: a dining area with comfortable tables and leather seats near the buffet, and a lounge area with club chairs and lounge seats near the windows.

Fairly pleasant food court
Very nice view from the Senator lounge

Although reasonably busy at the time of my visit, one can imagine that in the event of a large number of visitors to this lounge, the space is quickly filled!

Catering

The catering is provided, as on board, by Do&Co. Those who know know: it is very qualitative.

The usual coffee machine
The wines are rather well made
Strong spirits are available in the morning

In this case, at mid-morning, there are freshly prepared and excellent scrambled eggs (the best ever eaten in an airport lounge), tomatoes in olive oil, cheese and ham, several types of fresh yoghurt, several types of Müeslis and cereals, and the great classics: coffee, orange juice, apples, tomatoes and multi-fruits, pastries of all types and freshly baked.

The hot offer is excellent
Cold cuts are a bit of a step back
Several choices of pastries are available
Some flavoured waters
Some snacks are available

A real delight. The lunch and dinner offer is even better but our flight will soon be boarding.

Lounge facilities

The lounge has shared toilet and shower facilities with the other lounges, but some showers are reserved for the Senator and First lounges. No other facilities.

It should be noted that the sockets are well laid out, including at the tables.

Bottom line

A very pleasant experience, no doubt due to the moderate number of visitors.
