SAS unveils an attractive cabin for its A350s

SAS, the Scandinavian airline, has just presented the cabins that will equip its A350s, of which it has just received the first.

Previously the airline had presented the new livery of its aircrafts, a minimalist livery that we find very sober and successful because, to say it frankly, we were not really fan of the red engine nacelles.

SAS: the good surprise in long haul!

Before going further let us specify that SAS was one of our beautiful discoveries of 2019. As much as their medium-haul product is quite cheap and is not much better than some low-cost products we fell in love with their long haul business class, whether in terms of the cabin, the seat, the catering, the service or the attitude of the staff. What are the specificities of this new cabin?

The SAS Business cabin on the A350

The SAS Business cabin offers 40 seats (a Vantage XL as on the current A330 business but with some specific improvements for this version) equipped with an 18.5″ high resolution screen, PC and USB power supply, better seat articulation, separate control for the reclining backrest, a new two-piece folding tray table including a support for personal devices and a more resistant upholstery Business class beds are a minimum of 196 cm, some even longer, and SAS has installed a device that also provides a light foot massage.

SAS also created a new reception area at the front door where travelers are greeted in an elegant space with inlaid lights and other unique design features. During the flight, this area will serve as a bar for business class passengers.

SAS Plus cabin on A350 (premium economy)

32 seats for this new cabin in long haul at SAS. They include a leg rest with footrest, 13.3-inch high-resolution IFE screens, a PC and USB power supply and a divider isolating this cabin from the rest of the aircraft. SAS Plus and SAS Go passengers can take advantage of a special snack shop designed for passengers to move around on board to improve their health.

SAS Go cabin on A350 (economy)

228 seats with 11.6″ IFE high resolution screens, high power USB, folding tablet and water bottle holder. The aircraft is also equipped with a mid-cabin transverse passage for the greatest ease of movement of passengers and crew.

Our opinion

At this stage we must be satisfied with the announcements of the airline and the official photos, no “physical” presentation of the product having been made.

At first glance it looks very qualitative and premium and we are eager to try. We’ll have to see if SAS hasn’t forgotten some “killer details” but with the little information we have we’re pretty positive.
