A short while ago, we announced the alignment of the Hop! fare structure with that of Air France, before what we imagined to be the inevitable outcome: the end of Hop!
Well, things went much faster than expected because this morning Air France announced the end of its regional airline with the following press release.
“Air France announces that its commercial offer on short-haul routes operated by the regional fleet of the Group’s subsidiary HOP! will henceforth be marketed under the name Air France HOP.
This change makes it possible to link this offer more clearly to the Air France brand, and strengthens it by making it the sole point of reference for customers wishing to travel under the tricolor livery.
This is a further step in the process of simplifying the Air France – KLM brand portfolio to make it clearer for customers and more consistent with the Group’s overall commercial offer.
The Air France-KLM group relies on two strong brands, Air France and KLM, with regional variations with Air France HOP and KLM Cityhopper, and offers its customers a low-cost service under the Transavia brand, present in France and the Netherlands.”
After Joon, Hop! is the second logical victim of the necessary rationalization of the Air France-KLM brand portfolio.
