After a great lunch at the Emirates Palace, and on our way back to Dubai, we stopped at one of my favorite human constructions in the world: the Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Location
The mosque is located near the road that separates the political capital from the economic capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The access is well marked and has just been transformed. Once rather simple, access to the mosque is now through an underground parking lot that gives access to a mini-mall in which is located the entrance to the mosque.
Due to the pandemic in effect at the time of our visit, tour slots must be reserved in advance. Nous avons été légèrement pris de court, mais heureusement nombre de créneaux étaient disponibles immédiatement.
Unlike the previous practice, abayas are no longer loaned but must be purchased from stores conveniently located near the entrance. However, this appears to be a temporary practice related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Architecture
This mosque is simply magnificent, an architectural masterpiece of modern times.
Take a look at the pictures, they are breathtaking!
Conclusion
A monument not to be missed during your visit to the United Arab Emirates
