To round off our trip, we stayed one night at the Aloft Birmingham Eastside, located near the center of England’s second city.

Booking
We made our reservation at this hotel almost a month before our arrival.
Filtering through pet-friendly hotels, there wasn’t much choice left in Birmingham, and my wife and I are particularly fond of the Aloft concept. So at £50 a night, we decided to go for it!
Arrival
After a 6-hour drive from Scotland, we arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon.
The hotel does not have its own parking lot, but plenty of parking is available in the vicinity. We find one nearby and can unload all our junk before proceeding with check-in formalities.
As usual, we’re told that suites are not available for passengers with pets, but we’re assigned a nice room with a view. So be it. We choose breakfast as an Ambassador benefit, and decline the Late check-out offer.
Room
Our room was on the 5th floor of the building. The corridors “smell like new” and it’s very pleasant.
Our room was located near the elevators. I don’t think there’s anything special about our room, other than a clear view of the city and in-room amenities such as a bathrobe and Nespresso machine.
At the entrance, on the left, you’ll find a convenient closet, as well as a bathroom with a large shower, a washbasin opposite, and a toilet on the left.
Opposite is the bedroom proper, with the TV and desk on the right, and the king-size bed on the left.
Connectors are just perfect, but that’s what you’d expect from a modern hotel of this standing. They had thought of everything for our dog, as a bed was provided as well as bowls.
To finish, a video tour:
Hotel facilities
The hotel is equipped with a fitness room, located on the second floor of the property. The latter is quite spacious, even if there is little equipment.
Food options
The hotel has two food and beverage outlets: the bar, located in the hotel lobby, offers a snack menu as well as an extensive drinks menu. There’s also a restaurant, which wasn’t yet fully open when we arrived, but in which breakfast is served.
Breakfast service
Breakfast is served in the hotel’s main restaurant. The hotel was still in soft opening when we arrived, which meant a fairly limited flow of guests. There were no more than a dozen of guests in the dining room during the entire service.
When I arrive, the hostess takes me straight to my table. Very good point, which I didn’t necessarily expect in a hotel of simple standing like this one.
The decor is extremely tasteful and up to date, and the service perfect.
The buffet, though modest in size, offers ingredients of fairly good quality, with a perfectly acceptable hot offer, a decent bread offer, and a cold offer that complements the hot offer in a decent way.
Several coffee machines for special coffees and a wide range of juices are available.
All in all, a top-quality offering for a budget hotel.
Departure
Departure formalities will be very simple, and we’ll receive the invoice by e-mail a few minutes after our departure.
Bottom line
An excellent experience and unbeatable value for money, what more could you ask for?
