Today’s itinerary

Booking

I booked this hotel at the same time as the other hotels on our itinerary, i.e. about 4 weeks before our departure.

As this hotel accepts pets, this is the natural option for me in this city. As with the previous hotel, I use a Suite Night Award which allows me to secure an upgrade in advance. This time, my request will be approved.

Arrival

After a few hours’ drive from Trump Turnberry, we finally arrive at the Residence Inn Edinburgh.

We park close to reception to unload our luggage and check-in. Check-in is very straightforward, and we’re quickly in our apartment.

I will choose the breakfast as an Ambassador benefit in this hotel.

Room

Our apartment was located on the 6th floor of the property.

It’s worth noting that many apartments on this floor had a small sign indicating that their pet was inside, making it potentially one of the dog-friendly floors.

A small sign is given to us at check-in to indicate the presence of our pet.

As soon as you enter the apartment, you’ll find the bathroom on the right.

The washbasin is located in the entrance hallway.

A washbasin is available, and the shower and WC are separated by a door.

On the left is the living area, with lounge, dining room and kitchen, and this is where our dog will sleep during our stay.

And the decoration is nice

Opposite is the bedroom proper, with a small desk and TV on the left, and a king-size bed on the right.

Both rooms have good views of the city, and plenty of light thanks to their bay windows.

Hotel facilities

The hotel is equipped with a fitness room, which I won’t be visiting during this stay. It is nevertheless small, and located in the basement of the property.

Food options

The property has a bar and breakfast room. You can’t really call it a restaurant.

Breakfast service

We had breakfast at the hotel for the two nights we stayed there. Understandably, you can’t bring your pet to breakfast.

Despite the post-pandemic period, hotel guests are offered a buffet, with hot and cold options, coffee and juices. It’s still pretty basic – we’re not in Marriott’s top range.

A fruit salad and entire fruits are available.

Good quality breads and spreads

We’ll ignore the filter-coffee…

It was nevertheless eatable, but I’ll skip the hot options on day two. Particularly the scrambled eggs, of very mediocre quality. But hey, it’s free…

Departure

Departure formalities are straightforward, and the invoice is sent by e-mail within minutes.

Bottom line

Quite a pleasant stay, thanks to the hotel’s perfect location for visiting the city, and very friendly staff, especially with our dog!
