ALoft Liverpool: A warm welcome for our dog

For our first stopover, we stayed at the ALoft Liverpool, located right in the center of the English city.

Today’s itinerary

Booking

I booked this hotel when I was planning my vacation in Scotland, between 3 and 4 weeks before departure. There’s not much choice at Bonvoy in Liverpool for pet-friendly accommodation, so the choice will be made quickly.

At just over £80 a night, we’re on our way to this city-center property.

Arrival

We arrive by car from London. Contrary to my usual practice, no upgrades were indicated on the application, so I thought it must be an oversight.

Hotel entrance

The hotel has no parking facilities, so we head for the entrance to minimally unload our luggage. Luckily, however, a parking space is available right in front of the hotel, and it’s almost time for the paid parking to end.

The lobby is very spacious

We park there and check-in. We’re greeted by the head receptionist, who gives our dog (and us, of course) a royal welcome. He regretted not being able to upgrade us, but made sure to give us the best room possible with our dog (the suites are not pet friendly), offered a bottle of champagne and invited us to dinner.

A Shop and Go area is available in the lobby

A rest area for dogs is available near reception.

A COVID test center is available in the lobby.

I choose breakfast as an Ambassador benefit and we quickly make our way to our room.

Room

Our room is located on the second floor of the property. This room is the only pet-friendly one not in the Lower Ground, and it allows us to have, if not a view, a bit of light in this historic building that doesn’t offer much.

As soon as you enter, on the left, you’ll find the bathroom, with a first section comprising a washbasin and closet, and a second section separated by a sliding door and containing the toilet and a large shower.

On the opposite wall, the closet and the safe.

A few downward steps separate the entrance from the bedroom itself, which features a desk and king-size bed.

There’s a bench under the window for unpacking your luggage.

Our dog will have enough room to sleep next to the bed.

Pour finir, une visite vidéo :

Hotel facilities

The hotel has a fitness room, which I won’t be visiting.

IMG_5372
The meeting rooms are magnificent

Food options

The hotel has a bar-restaurant in its superb lobby, which we’ll visit for a drink and breakfast.

The bar is very pleasant

Breakfast service

We’ll arrive at the beginning of the breakfast service, and will be the first to arrive!

IMG_5395
The hall will be deserted by the time we arrive

The buffet will be of low quality, especially the hot section. We’ll blame it on the COVID.

IMG_5393
Some bread products of fairly low quality
IMG_5391
Many packaged products
IMG_5394
The hash browns will be of good quality but industrial for sure
IMG_5396
Scrambled eggs are inedible.
IMG_5397
Really not good!
IMG_5398
The sausages will be quality, the bacon will be shit!
IMG_5392
The juice and milk section is well-stocked

Departure

Departure formalities will be completed quickly, with the invoice sent by e-mail.

Bottom line

A nice stay, too bad about the impossible upgrade to a pet-friendly room.
