Today’s itinerary

DC3 aircraft wreckage

We start the day with a short hike across a totally deserted field to see the wreckage of a US Army DC3 that crashed in Iceland in the 1970s, iconic on social networks and well worth the detour. The round trip takes around 1h30.

Dyrhólaey

After this first stop, we really start the day’s visits with the rock formations of Dyrhólaey, but unfortunately when we arrive on site, a very thick fog invades the mountain and it’s complicated for us to take some pictures unfortunately. Nevertheless, you’ll find some wonderful photos on the Internet, and we’ll return later.

Vatnajökull National Park

We then return to Vík, where we have lunch close to the hotel we stayed in.

Then we head off to the next part of our program, the immense Vatnajökull National Park, with so much natural beauty to be had, and a wonderful hike past a waterfall.

Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon

We then head for the Jökulsárlón glacier, which offers one of the most impressive views of our stay: icebergs floating on a lake, in absolutely magnificent colors.
