During a stay with my wife in Canada, we stayed at the W Montreal. We had already talked about this hotel on TravelGuys, and not always in a good way.
Following the previous article and various contacts on Twitter, I chose to give a chance to this hotel… And I was right!
Booking
As usual, I proceeded to book the hotel through the Marriott Bonvoy app (at the time, it was still the SPG app) for less than CA$250, excluding taxes and services.
As agreed with the hotel manager after my previous disastrous stay, I contacted his assistant a few days after my reservation to notify him of my arrival in the property in February. She confirms that she has noted this point and prepares my arrival.
Arrival
We arrived at the hotel in the early evening, with a rental car that we picked up at the Hertz agency at Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport, and after a short 30-minute drive.
We park in front of the hotel and a bellman comes to help us with a cart for our luggage. We are quite burdened because of the winter clothes we carry.
Once our luggage is taken care of, we leave our car keys with the valet and proceed with the check-in formalities.
We wait a few minutes, the receptionist being already busy with other customers.
We are then taken care of quickly. The receptionist confirmed our 3-night stay, and indicated an upgrade to one of the two “WOW Suites”, one of the highest categories in the hotel, where guests are not usually upgraded! Excellent!
We choose breakfast as our Ambassador benefit, then continue to our suite on the top floor of the property.
Room : WOW Suite
To this day, it is one of the nicest upgrades I have ever received, and one of the nicest rooms I have ever had the pleasure of staying in.
The suite is located on two floors, the lower one being the living space and the upper one the sleeping space with the bedroom and the bathroom.
The entrance to the suite leads to a small bathroom.
Then, the lounge area is very large, the sofa is huge and very comfortable.
A welcome gift was left for me.
The lounge opens onto a terrace which of course remained snowed in throughout our stay, but which gives a very special touch to this suite.
Then, the bedroom, located on the mezzanine, is accessible by a majestic staircase.
The bed is very comfortable, and the fact that it is positioned on a mezzanine allows to have the same view as from the living space.
The bathroom is directly accessible from the bedroom, but gives very little privacy, all walls being glass.
In summary, an excellent room that we recommend without hesitation!

Hotel facilities
The hotel does not have a spa, but a fitness room located in the basement (near the RESO access). It is rather small, but meets the needs of the hotel which is not so big after all.
Food options
We only used the restaurant for breakfast, but the service was simply attentive, perfect.
The buffet is certainly limited but largely sufficient for us.
The coffee is American, for sure, but the espresso provided on request is pretty good.
Departure
The departure formalities were simple, and the invoice correct.
Bottom line
A good catching up after the last very disappointing performance. The hotel was almost empty, which surely helped to make this stay one of the best in Quebec’s largest city!
