Avis : Air France Economy – Lyon – Paris-Orly, Bombardier CRJ1000 (opéré par HOP !)

Back from our wedding, we arrived at Lyon Saint-Exupéry airport for our return to Paris. An uneventful flight.

Check-in

We check-in online 30 hours before departure, and I am given row 2. Unable to reposition to row 1, nothing available until row 9. Very good.

Ground experience

(Note : Photos taken on another occasion)

We arrive at the airport and return our car to the Hertz agency at Saint-Exupéry airport.

A shuttle bus serves the rental companies to take passengers to Terminals 1 and 2.

Once we arrive at terminal 2, we have to go to departures and then to security as we have no luggage to check-in.

Some jamming at check-in, which we did not have to use this time

Security passed in a flash thanks to the very efficient Fast Track (with lovely staff).

The Fast Track is now open to SkyPriority customers at Lyon Saint-Exupéry
The way to the Air France lounge is well marked

We return to the lounge, this time open unlike last time.

The Holy Grail of the frequent traveller

The welcome is very shy and we settle in.

Reception and press of the day
The rather successful decoration of the space
The catering area is quite successful
The lounging areas are nevertheless quite limited

Once again, I don’t get a special welcome despite my Club 2000 status, although I theoretically have access to the reserved area according to the sign…

I did not have access to the space that was reserved for me…

The service is minimal. Only beer is served as alcohol, the service is done in cardboard or plastic cups, and the offer of snacks is minimal, limited to pretzels and biscuits in bags and a lemon cake.

Buffets are located on the left side of the lounge
The breakfast offer is minimalist, but has the merit of existing
The rest of the catering is disappointing

The spaces are nevertheless rather pleasant, both during the day and at night, compared to the patio that existed previously…

Good point: toilets are available in the lounge

Boarding

As the flight is operated by a Regional Jet, it takes place in Lyon from gates S and U. We therefore go to this boarding pier 5 minutes before the theoretical start time to give us time to reach the gate.

We arrive at the gate at the theoretical boarding time, but the boarding has not yet started… The passengers of the feeder flight have just disembarked and are still waiting for their cabin baggage on the tarmac.

(Almost) immediate boarding for Paris-Orly

Boarding begins a few minutes later with strict adherence to priorities, and a retrieval tag is affixed to the suitcase for collection at the foot of the aircraft on arrival.

Cabin and reception

The welcome is cordial but not warm and we head to our seats. The boarding process goes smoothly and we delay 15 minutes after the scheduled time.

Service and catering

The service starts shortly after take-off, using the standard domestic protocol. I choose red wine and it is unfortunately served cold… I’ll drink it anyway. I will decline the snacks.

Always a small glass to accompany a good report

Arrival and disembarkation

The arrival will (obviously) be at a remote stand after a long taxiing on the Orly taxiways. Disembarkation will be slow due to a large amount of cabin baggage to be discharged from the hold.

Bottom line

An ordinary flight, but one marked by the airline’s operational difficulties, which are gradually degrading the passenger experience.
