KLM has announced the upcoming introduction of a Premium Economy class in its aircrafts.

It was one of the first to enter the “premium economy” market with a class called “comfort economy”. Located between business and economy it offered the same service as in economy, the same seat but with 10cm more legroom and 5cm more recline.

Although economy comfort seats are more expensive than “classic” economy seats, they were available free of charge to Fying Blue Platinum members, with a 50% discount for Gold members, 25% for Silver members and 10% for Explorer members.

KLM therefore intends to launch a “true” premium economy with a specific product in terms of seat and service.

Today the airline is at the stage of the blank sheet and it will be necessary to be patient before knowing more.

This is in any case very good news in terms of premiumization of KLM’s offer even if, having tried it many times, we find the current product very interesting in terms of experience/price ratio but it is certain that a real premium economy product and not an improved economy would offer an undeniable plus…and would allow to increase the income of the seats concerned.
