ALoft London ExCel : Very well located and good service

A London conference recently took me to one of my favorite hotels, the ALoft London ExCeL.
Located 15 minutes from London City Airport, and less than 20 minutes from central London, the hotel is ideal for attending conferences at the ExCeL center, making appointments in the nearby business district, or even sightseeing in London and staying quiet at night.

Booking

The hotel reservation was made by me through my employer’s online travel desk. The reservation was automatically associated with my SPG profile and manageable through the Starwood loyalty program site.
Given the high occupancy rate and the late booking, I manage to get a suite for two nights at the very good price of £224+taxes, thanks to the agreements between my company and Starwood worldwide.

Arrival

The day before my arrival, and as in all ALoft and W hotels, I receive an invitation to use SPG Keyless, Starwood’s service that allows you to do without a room access card. In most countries, it even allows you to skip the reception at all, but this is not the case in the UK.
The formalities of arrival in the hotel are fast, even if the employee seems new and struggles a little with the computer system and the activation of Keyless. She confirmed my requests, namely the Starpoints as a welcome gift and my late check-out at 4pm.

Rooms

This is my third stay in the hotel, but I am very pleasantly surprised by the size and decoration of the suites. They are very spacious (about 60m2).

From the entrance, a shower room is available to accommodate visitors.

The entrance opens on a living room with a very contemporary decoration.

Decoration more or less successful by the way. The chairs are not very comfortable, the sofa a bit hard.
A Nespresso coffee machine is available which avoids going down to the bar to drink a coffee and maximizes work and rest time.

The sleeping area is more classic, with a comfortable king size bed and a desk:

The bathroom is not really separated from the night area. This is not very practical, but quite classic in ALoft hotels.

To finish, a short virtual visit in pictures:

Hotel services and facilities

The hotel has a swimming pool and a fitness room, both of which are very pleasant. The fitness room is equipped with very modern and well maintained equipment.
The pool is also very pleasant, even if the heat is sometimes stifling.

Restaurants

Unlike the other ALoft hotels, the hotel has a full restaurant, probably due to its distance from central London.
This one is of very good quality and offers a complete breakfast, and lunch and dinner not very refined but well executed.
The bar was privatized by companies during this visit, but here are some daytime views:

Departure

The day before, I use the hotel’s Let’s Chat serviceto secure my late check-out, which was done within a minute:

Excellent service.
At the time of my check-out, no problem, I was able to pay a part in cash and the rest by American Express card.

Conclusion

Excellent stay, the property remains excellent for business. Close to LCY, it is also easily accessible by transport from central London, and offers very good value for money.
