Town Hall Hotel London, Design Hotels : A little nugget near Shoreditch

As part of a weekend stay in London, I chose to try out a newly integrated hotel in the SPG loyalty program, the Town Hall Hotel, a member of Design Hotels.
Starwood actually took a stake in the chain in 2011, and is beginning to gradually bring properties into the SPG program, with so-called limited participation: the Platinum benefits are limited to points at check-in and a bottle of water. However, points and nights qualify for point accumulation only if the stay was bookedthrough a Starwood channel.

Booking

I booked this hotel, as usual, through the SPG website. Frankly, it was both the price and the location that attracted me to this newly integrated facility. For £178+taxes, it was much cheaper than all the central establishments, and the excellent reviews on the Internet confirmed my choice.

Arrival

The hotel can be reached by subway from Bethnal Green station, which is a 3-minute walk from the hotel, but the walk from the subway is not necessarily the most pleasant.
The building is very elegant, but there are stairs to climb before you can reach the reception.
The interior is also very successful, with an undeniable art-deco touch.

The check-in is done seated by two adorable receptionists.
I was told at the outset that I would be upgraded to a One Bedroom Suite, two categories above the one reserved on the SPG website.
I am also introduced to the hotel’s services, the gourmet restaurant, the pool and the gym.
Nice check-in experience, very personalized, and ends with a nice surprise as my room is already ready even though it’s not even 9am.

The room

The suite I was assigned is located on the second floor of the hotel (out of 3). The access is through elegant corridors, although they are overheated.
The decoration is really sublime, exactly to my taste.
To begin, a video tour:

The first room is a large living room with an open and complete kitchen:

It then leads into a living room with two beautiful sofas and high quality furniture:

The second room is the bedroom, with a bed (moderately comfortable) and a very design desk.

The bathroom, totally open to the room, is also sublime. I like the duck in the bath!

Honestly, at this price, I wasn’t expecting such a suite. Really perfect.

Departure

I did not need a Late Check-out. The departure formalities have been very simple, and this greatly improves the experience. Luggage stored until the evening before leaving to Paris.

Conclusion

An excellent Londoner choice at SPG. Fans of lounges and other perks will not be pleased, but fans of beautiful places with a cool atmosphere will be delighted. Next time, I’ll try the pool and the restaurant that I’ve heard so much about. So there will be a next time!
