New Malaysia Airlines safety instructions showcase local hospitality in musical form

Malaysia Airlines recently released its new safety video. The theme is obviously Malaysian hospitality. What can I say?

It starts well, it’s soothing. And then different scenes follow each other with changes of music and atmosphere a bit like a musical. And there we have difficulty to follow and to stick. Maybe a little too “local” to appeal to an international audience? It reminds me of the Koran Airlines video with a K-Pop background.

Often even the most successful safety instruction videos get boring by the end.

Air France’s “France is in the Air” had lost its heady soundtrack over time to return to more sobriety.

The “Lego 2”of Turkish Airlines was very nice at the beginning but boring once you saw it a bit too much.

Actually, we even prefer the old Continental commercials from the 70’s where, still in musical mode, the airline promised to ” move its tail for us “.
