As part of another trip to Paris following my move to London, I stayed at the AC Hotel Paris Porte Maillot.
This time, the round trip will be by Eurostar Standard Premier, as all my flights had been cancelled and the proposed replacements were not compatible with my professional schedule.
Booking
I made this reservation a week before my arrival in Paris. I had originally booked at Le Méridien Etoile, but the hotel wrote to me over the holidays to let me know it wouldn’t be reopening straight away, offering me accommodation at no extra cost at the Renaissance. Having already stayed in this hotel recently, I chose to change hotels for the AC Porte Maillot, even closer to my usual place of work in Paris.
So let’s go for 2 nights in a standard room for €130 a night.
Arrival
A few days before my arrival, I noticed an upgrade to a Prestige room. A little disappointing in the middle of a pandemic.
I arrive at the hotel in the late morning by Uber from the Gare du Nord.
I check-in quickly, as I had already done my mobile check-in and the fare was prepaid.
I am told that breakfast will have to be eaten in my room. As with all AC hotels, it’s not possible to choose breakfast as an Ambassador benefit. I hope this will change soon! So I’ll choose the points, I avoid hearty breakfasts during the week.
So here I am, on my way to my prestige room on the 8th and top floor of the property.
Prestige room
It’s not actually a bedroom, but a Suite, and not really a junior suite, since there’s a separation between the bedroom and the work/relaxation area.
To the right of the entrance is the toilet, separate from the bathroom, and a large cupboard where I can set up for the next two days.
Opposite is the relaxation area with sofa and coffee table, facing the TV and Nespresso machine. At the back, near the window, there’s a desk where you can work in peace.
On the other side of the partition is the king-size bed, for once comfortable in an AC hotel, and the full bathroom, with shower and bathtub.
The room will be very pleasant for these two nights.

Parisienne Suite
On a subsequent stay, at my request, I was upgraded to one of the hotel’s two suites. My suite was located on the 7th floor of the property, room 708.
The door opens onto the suite’s lounge area, featuring a sofa, coffee table and closet.
On the other side are the toilets, as well as the office and coffee area.
Next comes the sleeping area, separated from the lounge by a simple curtain (a thick one, admittedly), which contains the bathroom with bath and shower, as well as the king-size bed.
A comfortable suite indeed, but not much larger than the prestige room I had on a previous stay.
Finally, here is the video tour:
Hotel facilities
The hotel is equipped with a fitness room, which I will not use this time.
Food options
I won’t be having breakfast at the hotel or using room service. Nevertheless, I’ll take a few bottles of champagne to go at reception.
During my second stay, as breakfast was included in my rate, I will enjoy it on one of the mornings. Everything was excellent, including the service.
Departure
Check-out formalities were a bit laborious, as none of my credit cards were working. The hotel allowed me to leave, however, and then debited me later in the day without any problems.
Bottom line
A very good experience, even if I found the service to be totally non-existent.
