Become a Gold or Diamond Hilton in less than 10 nights in 2021!

Unsurprisingly, hoteliers and airlines will be working hard in 2021 to help their customers retain their loyalty program status.

After Marriott’s superb start-of-year promotion, it’s Hilton’s turn to bring out a great offer. But here it’s not a question of helping customers retain their status, but of convincing competitors’ customers to join the Hilton Honors program by taking advantage of a “status match”.

Status Match

A statuts match is a one-off operation in which a loyalty program offers members of a competitor program the chance to acquire the equivalent status immediately.

This enables the chain to “poach” customers from competitors who won’t have to go through a period without status, and therefore without benefits, to try out the services of its hotels and the advantages of its loyalty program. And by targeting members of the “top tiers” of competing programs, they are targeting the best, most “profitable” customers?

Sometimes the status match is automatic (you prove that you have a status with a competitor and you receive the equivalent status), sometimes it’s subject to a “challenge”, a sort of probation test. This is the case here.

Who’s eligible for Hilton’s match status?

Members of the top “tiers” of the major chains’ loyalty programs.

Accor ALL Gold, Platinum
IHG Rewards Club Gold, Platinum, Spire
Marriott Bonvoy Gold, Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador
Radisson Rewards Gold, Platinum
World of Hyatt Explorist, Globalist and Lifetime Globalist

How to get your Hilton match status?

If you haven’t already done so, you must first join Hilton Honors.

Then go to https://statusmatch.hiltonhonors.com/

Here you will need to register and provide proof of your current status on a competing program (copy or screenshot of your card proving your current status and your most recent stays on this program).

Once your application has been accepted (allow a week’s waiting time, a little longer if your case requires further verification) you will receive Hilton Honors Gold status valid for 90 days!

This is where the “challenge” comes in. If during the 90 days :

Stay 5 nights and keep the Gold until March 2023!
Stay 9 nights in a Hilton and you’ll earn prestigious Hilton Diamond status until March 2023.

Please note that the challenge begins on the day the status match is accepted, not the first stay. So don’t apply until you’re ready to spend the required number of nights in the next 90 days.
