When it comes to giving me gifts, my wife knows me well. So, for my birthday, she knows that nothing can make me happier than traveling.
She also knows my habits and would never book with a low-cost or in a hotel that I would not appreciate… Anyway, we will fly on Air France to Copenhagen and stay at the Marriott Copenhagen for a long relaxing weekend after a few weeks without travel.
Here is the booked itinerary:
| # | Type | Review |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Flight | Air France Economy, Paris Charles-de-Gaulle – Copenhagen Kästrup, Airbus A318 (not reviewed) |
| 7 | Hotel | Copenhagen Marriott (you are here) |

Booking
Since this trip was a surprise organized by my wife, I can’t really talk about the booking process. I can only tell you that my Marriott Ambassador helped him organize this trip.
Arrival
We arrived in the middle of the afternoon at the hotel from Copenhagen airport, where we had left our suitcases after a visit to Malmö in Sweden, and a passage on the Öresund bridge.
We are taken care of by the receptionist, a bit coldly… Strange to put trainees in training at the Marriott Bonvoy priority counter, but it seems to be a pattern in the industry to train agents with the most loyal and demanding customers.
We were upgraded to an Executive room with a river view, nice but not the best upgrade in the world. On my birthday weekend, it’s unfortunate and I can see that my wife is a little disappointed.
Since the hotel has a Club Lounge, we will not take the breakfast benefit as a welcome gift, but the points.
After a few moments, we are on our way to our room located on the highest floor of the hotel.
Room
Our room was located on the 8th and top floor of the property.
If it is an Executive room, its style is quite dated, like an American hotel from the 90s.
As soon as you enter the building, you notice the ugly carpet, like Singapore Changi airport: made so that no stain is noticeable at first sight. The entrance is spacious and has enough closet space for a weekend.
Just to the left is the bathroom, which is also quite spacious and has a shower and bath.
We regret however the presence of a single basin, but we are finally only at Marriott, and not in a suite.
The shower and its door will have some sealing problems. Also, I much prefer when the toilet is separated from the bathroom, at least by a glass door.
I don’t particularly like the toiletries in Marriott hotels.
The room itself is also very spacious and offers a clear view of the city and the river.
A welcome gift is placed near the entrance and above the minibar.
The bed will not be particularly comfortable, very hard. I know we’re in Scandinavia, but when you go to Marriott, you expect to have consistency between hotels…
The television is arranged on a piece of furniture with a taste let us say… The television is arranged on a piece of furniture with a questionable taste.
A green armchair (again, the height of good taste) is placed near the bed and the windows.
The corner view is magnificent, and panoramic.
We appreciate the presence of a desk, on which a welcome gift was placed, I guess especially for my birthday.
Finally, here is the video tour:
Hotel facilities
The hotel is equipped with a fitness room, which we will not use this time.
Catering – Club Lounge
We spent our time discovering the city. Also, we will have dinner and lunch outside the hotel. However, we used the Club Lounge several times for drinks and breakfast.
The Club Lounge is located on the first floor of the hotel, near the elevator bank.
Happy Hour at the Club Lounge
Happy hour in the Club Lounge is available from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. If there is no particular reception (the access is done with the room key card), a service is proposed but reduced to the minimum: buffet management and clearing up.
When we arrive, the place is already full. Many seem to be almost dining at the Club Lounge.
There is plenty to do with all these bottles of wine, of average quality.
The cold selection is quite simple, but fills your stomach well.
Breakfast at the Club Lounge
For the breakfast too, the place will be quite full (less the next day because we will arrive much earlier).
The buffet will be quite varied, and some items rather surprising.
The hot elements will be of very good quality.
The pastries will be a little dry, and the bread a little stuffy.
A few sweets are offered next to the eternal cereals.
Departure
We will use the mobile check-out for the departure formalities, which will be very simple.
Bottom line
A good stay, even if the rooms could be of better quality, with a less American, more contemporary decoration. And the upgrade for my birthday was a bit stingy.
