Review : Sheraton Milan San Siro

As part of a conference in beautiful Milan, I stayed at the Sheraton Milan San Siro, named after the nearby stadium that houses the Inter.

A look back at this stay in this recent but well functioning hotel.

Booking

I booked this hotel a few weeks before my arrival, as soon as I confirmed my registration for the conference.

I use the corporate code of my business to arrive at a low price of 105€ per night. Unbeatable.

It is true that the hotel is far from the center, but the other Marriott hotels are around 300€ a night at this time of year when there are many conventions.

The hotel sports the new Sheraton signage

Arrival

A few days before my arrival, I check-in online with the Marriott Bonvoy app, where I enter my arrival time at the hotel (1:00 pm).

The day before, I see that my standard room has been upgraded to a Junior Suite. Perfect!

The lobby is made up of multiple spaces for relaxation and waiting

I arrive from Linate airport with my transfer in about 45 minutes (the hotel is on the other side of town).

The lobby of the hotel is decorated with great taste

I am immediately taken care of by Monica, the receptionist. She has a “in training” badge but will take care of me in an exceptional way.

The lobby bar is very pleasant, and is the link between the reception and the restaurant

She proceeds to my check-in, and tells me that my suite is not yet ready. She offers to escort me to the Club Lounge so I can wait, which I accept.

The elevators have screens that display information about the hotel’s services

She waits with me and checks with the housekeeping the status of my suite, less than 10 minutes later, she comes back to me with the key to my suite, perfect!

The renovation of this 70’s building is very successful
On the way to my suite: even the hallway carpets are nice

Room

My suite is located on the 5th floor of the property.

The decoration of the suite is well done
The view from my suite is very clear

It has a small entrance that contains the closet and the tea and coffee area.

The courtesy tray is available at the entrance, next to the closet

The bathroom is also located at the entrance, and is very nicely decorated. I regret the presence of a bath instead of a shower, however.

In the bathroom too, the decoration is very successful
The washbasin is very nice, but we would like something a little bigger for a suite
I always prefer the shower to the baths especially when the pressure is so low

The junior suite is actually in one piece.

The Super King bed is located on the left, and a real desk for working on the right.

The king size bed offered is extremely comfortable, special mention to the triple ration of pillows!
The office and its Nespresso machine will be my favorite space during this stay

A little further on, a relaxation area is available with a sofa and coffee table.

The relaxation area is very pleasant for reading a book, but not really for watching television

The TV is located here, which puts it very far from the bed (but who really uses the TV these days?).

A welcome service was arranged for me after my arrival

The weather is rather gloomy but the large windows ensure a good luminosity during the day.

To finish, a video tour:

Hotel facilities

The hotel has a spa on the top floor of the hotel. My conference keeps me busy, so I won’t have time to visit. In any case, it is operated separately and is charged even for hotel guests.

The fitness room is also on the top floor of the hotel and is nice, even if its size does not allow it to absorb the entire morning rush.

The Sheraton Fitness room is a little small to absorb the morning rush
The space could be better optimized especially for free exercises

Catering

The hotel has two restaurants and a bar. However, I will not use them during this stay, enjoying the Club Lounge and Room Service.

Club Lounge

The club lounge is located on the top floor of the hotel.

The total space of the Club Lounge is quite large
The decoration of the Club Lounge is very successful
A few brief snacks are offered outside of service hours
Hot and cold drinks (soft) are also available all day)

Happy Hour

Every evening from 6 to 8 pm, Happy Hour is offered, with red, white and sparkling wines, beers and hors d’oeuvres.

The offer of white and sparkling wines is rather good
The red wine is also of good quality

The offer is rather good, but rather short, and the buffet is quickly empty.

Slivers of parmesan cheese are offered right from the wheel, original!
Cold canapés and charcuterie from the Club Lounge Happy Hour
The presentation is very qualitative
The hot hors d’oeuvres are of good quality, but not really very healthy

But the service is friendly and proactive.

The sweet offer stands up well in Happy Hour

Breakfast

The breakfast offer is rather complete, but not necessarily very qualitative.

Fruit deserves more diversity and quality
The presence of whole fruits also decreases the quality aspect of the buffet

In Italy, American or English breakfast habits are not yet very popular…

The bacon in the Club Lounge’s breakfast offering is a little soft
Sausages deserve to be grilled a lot more
The scrambled eggs are, on the other hand, of very good quality

As a result, the hot offer is rather average but the offer of bread, pastries and fruits is rather good.

The quality of the breads would deserve a little more attention
The cold cuts and cheeses are of good quality
The pastries and cakes at the Club Lounge breakfast buffet are excellent

Room Service

I used room service 3 times during my stay, for one lunch and two dinners.

I ordered the Milanese risotto twice, which was excellent.

A risotto with a perfectly cooked osso-buco

The other time I ordered the beef tenderloin from the hotel’s Argentinean restaurant, which was exceptional.

The excellent beef of the hotel’s Argentinean restaurant, served here in room service

The room service is a success, which is clearly not always the case, and the staff is charming, which complements the quality of the food.

Departure

The departure formalities were rather simple, even if the mobile check-out was not working.

Bottom line

An excellent stay in all points: the hotel is very pretty inside, the catering is of quality and the service is perfect… We’ll return!
