Le Méridien Hong Kong Cyberport: Very solid, except for the location

As part of a business trip to Asia, I stayed at Le Méridien Hong Kong Cyberport. While the property is of good quality, its distance is problematic, especially if you come for business.

A look back on a short but pleasant stay.

Booking

I made the reservation in this hotel a few days before my visit, through the SPG application. I hesitated for a long time with other Marriott or Starwood properties, but the short duration of my stay and the very low price made me opt for this property. Therefore, I book using the corporate code of my company.

Shortly before my arrival, I send the blog flyer to the front desk staff to indicate that we will be taking photos and videos.

A few days before my arrival, I noticed an upgrade to a Deluxe room with a bay view.

I also use the Your24 benefit from SPG to guarantee my check-out at 6pm the day after my arrival, request accepted without problem by the hotel.

Arrival

I arrive at the hotel thanks to the transfer provided by Emirates for its First Class passengers upon arrival in Hong Kong (in other ports of call, it is also available for Business).

Immediately, the staff takes care of the luggage, and when I start the check-in formalities, the manager comes to welcome me. Nice intention probably due to the email sent a few days earlier.

The reception staff confirmed the upgrade and the scheduled check-out time of 6pm. I am also briefed on the program for SPG Platinum members, as well as the hotel’s restaurants and facilities.

The receptionist will escort me to the elevator and not to the room (at my request).

Room

The room, located on the 6th floor of the hotel, faces the Hong Kong bay. The view is simply breathtaking.

The entrance has a large closet for your clothes, with a second convenient opening in the bathroom so you don’t have to “go around”.

The bathroom is spacious, with a fully glazed shower overlooking the room itself, which provides brightness but little privacy.

IMG_3801

The room is spacious without being huge, the bed comfortable and to the standards of the chain, the desk very large. One will regret the absence of multi-standard plugs and, more generally, of plugs near the bed allowing to recharge one’ s devices. A local cell phone is available to connect to the Internet during your visits.

The curtain mechanism does not allow to reach a complete black unfortunately.

A pleasant room whose major attraction is the incredible view of the Hong Kong bay.

To finish, a visit in video:

Hotel facilities

The hotel, located in the new district of Cyberport, is well equipped. In addition to the food and beverage outlets, the property has an outdoor pool located on the 4th floor of the property, which is more than decent sized. At the time of my visit, the Jacuzzi was not available. Note that there is no specific service around the pool.

The fitness room also available on the 4th floor of the hotel is very small for this type of hotel, and you have to go through the pool for the staff to open the room. Not very practical and not available 24 hours a day.

Restaurants

The property has several restaurants and bars, including two main ones: one Japanese, located in the lobby, and a buffet located on the 4th floor

Hotel bar – PSI

The bar is located on the 4th floor of the property. As the hotel does not have a Club Lounge, a Happy Hour is offered to Platinum members with an open bar from 5:30 to 8:30 pm and hot and cold canapés. The proposed menu is quite extensive, especially in terms of drinks.

On the catering side, a quality cold buffet is offered, as well as a selection of hot snacks on request. Hard to make a meal out of it (that’s not the point), but it’s very honest.

Japanese Restaurant – Umami

The Japanese restaurant is located near the lobby of the property. The menu is very upscale, with quality fish, even rare.

IMG_3839

The welcome is excellent. I must say that the restaurant is empty or almost empty, and I have two waiters just for me.

IMG_3840

IMG_3841

The menu is very complete, with obviously raw fish, hot fish dishes and traditional Japanese dishes. The prices are very high, and the 20% discount is welcome.

The raw fish dishes are very well executed.

Breakfast – Prompt

The Prompt restaurant is the other main restaurant of the hotel, and offers a buffet all day, especially at breakfast time.

IMG_3844

The buffet is very well stocked, and very varied. A noodle buffet is also available.

The service, and the reception, on the other hand are very basic. Shame.

Departure

The departure formalities were very simple, and I was quickly in the hotel shuttle that took me to the Hong Kong Airport Express station. No problem with the bill.

Bottom line

A hotel that offers great services at a good value for money. But its remote location disqualifies it, due to its distance without a subway. Shame.
