On my recent trip to Thailand in April/May 2O15, I stayed at Le Meridien in Bangkok, having been loyal to SPG for years, and with good reason. There are many SPG hotels in Bangkok and I won’t do the job of listing them all here. Nevertheless, Le Meridien Bangkok is one of the most appreciated Starwood hotels in Bangkok by theFlyerTalk communityand I wanted to try it for my last night in Thailand.
The establishment was booked using theSPG Hot Escapes website, at a rate of 4000 THB per night.
As usual, I booked the cheapest room, without breakfast, and without using the Suite Night Award, a mechanism that guarantees suite upgrades at SPG, but not very useful in Asia as upgrades are so easy.
A very charming welcome
As soon as I arrived at the hotel by transport (300m from the underground metro), I noticed that the welcome here would be different from a Sheraton, warmer, more boutique.
I was immediately taken care of by one of the receptionists. Arriving shortly before noon, she tells me that my suite has just been prepared, but that a housekeeper wants to inspect it so that everything is perfect before I move in. I wait at the bar, where they serve me a coconut granita, excellent.
Then the formalities were carried out, my Avantec Suite was assigned, and the Platinum benefits were presented: free breakfast, 500 Starpoints and, above all, an unlimited bar menu from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to make up for the absence of a club! Perfect, and so much more qualitative!
A very elegant suite with a breathtaking view of Bangkok
My room is located on the 17th floor of the building.
When I arrived at my room, I discovered a very elegant suite, with generous dimensions and a breathtaking view. Visit below:
A box of excellent orange chocolates is waiting for me on the desk.
The living room area of the suite is spacious, with a library, a desk, a coffee machine and a fully equipped lounge. The office has numerous power plugs in all international formats.
The room is very luminous. The curtains are adjustable with a series of buttons located near the bedside. In the boutique spirit, a wooden dummy is available to prepare your outfit for the next day.
The bathroom is very well equipped, with a bathtub that offers a view of the city, a double shower (unheard of, an incentive to debauchery!) and a toilet separated by a full door.
A small but very pleasant pool
The pool, located on the 6th floor of the facility along with the spa and gym, is definitely small and tucked away, but it’s very nice to be there. The staff is also very attentive, and the food is very good.
Very appreciable little touches
When I returned to my room, a little surprise was brought to me, some more little welcome sweets!
A very nice bar
The hotel bar, from which the Happy Hour is served, is very pleasant, although slightly overcrowded at this very hour.
A gargantuan and qualitative breakfast buffet
Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to enjoy breakfast. Nevertheless, I have taken some pictures so that you can appreciate the offer and its quality. An area reserved for SPG Platinum members is available, with table service and sparkling wine.
Conclusion: What a pity not to be able to stay longer!
I felt very comfortable in this property, and would have stayed a few more nights. Unfortunately, my job was waiting for me in Paris
