Sheraton Stockholm: Really not up to par

While booking our trip to Stockholm to take advantage of the airline promotion mentioned in the ad hocarticle published last Thursday, we also looked at the hotel promotions: the Sheraton Stockholm was proposed on the SPG Hot Escapes website at 1500 SEK per night. The property is well rated on TripAdvisor.
I did not use a Suite Night Award to guarantee an upgrade, as suites are not exceptional at this hotel.

Arrival and check-in

We arrived on Friday evening from the airport by Ãœber. There is no valet service to take care of the luggage.
We were taken care of almost immediately for the check-in. There is a dedicated window for SPG Gold and Platinum members that I used this time.
The reception was very courteous, even though the receptionist was in training according to her badge, the whole process was very professional. The hotel was full, so I didn’t get an upgrade, but I was assured of a newly renovated room on the 8th floor with a balcony.
I was also told that I had access to the club lounge, which was temporarily closed and replaced by a meeting room that served as a lounge on the first floor of the property.

The room

Before arriving at the room, I must say that I was surprised at the state of the corridors. I can understand that the hotel is under renovation, but to propose corridors with carpets covered with cardboard is not worthy of the standing of the establishment.

My room had a balcony. However, since the renovation work was also in progress, the view was limited to scaffolding.

The tour of the room is quite quick considering its small size. The whole is quite elegant, the light parquet reinforces the brightness of the room.
First, a virtual tour in video :

The strong point of the room is undeniably the bed, extremely comfortable, a little higher than the Sheraton standard.

Its weak points: the non-existent view, its size, the outdated bathroom.

Facilities and conveniences

The hotel’s gym is well equipped with enough equipment to avoid waiting.

Note: the young barman who works in the evening is excellent. A self-taught man, certainly, but one who has a sense of the profession.

>Sheraton Club

With the regular club lounge under construction, the facility uses a pair of meeting rooms as a club. Result: it is small, crowded, the services are correct but not more. Disappointing, even very disappointing, especially since no welcome is really done. The service consists solely of the removal of the previous customers’ scraps, which pile up painfully, both at breakfast and during Happy Hour.

Breakfast

Hoping for better services as much on the variety of the dishes as on the service of the breakfast, the second morning I tried the restaurant. What a mistake I made ! Here the service is totally lame. No one to serve hot drinks and orange juice. The plates are cleared without a word from the waiters. The quality of the buffet is poor.

Conclusion

The hotel did not live up to my expectations, which were high but not out of line with my GSP status. The bonus for the bartender and the reception staff who clearly stand out from the rest. For the rest, everything must be improved and in depth.
