As part of a personal stay in the capital of Madrid, I stayed at the Circulo Gran Via, located in the huge eponymous street of Madrid.
Booking
I booked this hotel several months in advance on the Marriott Bonvoy app using my business’s corporate code, at a rate close to €260 per night. Quite expensive, but it is a busy congress period in Madrid, and I wanted this absolutely central location.
Arrival
Two days before my arrival, I receive a notification that I can check-in, which I do.
The day I arrived, I noticed that I had been upgraded to a suite with a terrace! It was unexpected since the hotel was absolutely full. And it is a happiness since the weather is summery with 28°C at the maximum of the day.
My fiancée proceeds with the check-in formalities before my arrival, as she is already present in Madrid.
I arrive at the hotel by Cabify from Barajas airport in a bit less than 30 minutes.
I go to the reception to give my ID and to get confirmation of the Ambassador benefits, namely the free breakfast and the guaranteed late check-out at 4pm, already registered in my room card. Shouldn’t this be the case everywhere…
Note that the check-in is done seated, a mark of quality of this 5-star boutique-hotel.
Room
The assigned suite is located on the 6th and top floor of the property.
The first thing that strikes you is the light that bathes this very elegant suite.
The lounge area includes a dining table, a sitting area with sofa, coffee table and armchairs, a bar containing the mini-bar and courtesy tray as well as the espresso machine.
Between the lounge and the bedroom is the dressing room, which has a very large capacity and which we will use well.
The room, also nicely decorated, has an extremely comfortable king size bed, as well as a very large television.
The bathroom, accessible only from the bedroom, has a very large shower, a sink and a toilet separated by a door.
But the highlight of this suite is undeniably the huge terrace (it is at least twice the size of the suite) which is equipped with a deckchair, a dining table and a complete garden lounge… The only thing missing is the jacuzzi!
We will enjoy this suite as it should be and to finish, the virtual tour in video :
Hotel facilities
The hotel has a fitness room, on the first floor, which I did not try.
Catering
The catering in this hotel is of very good quality. As an Ambassador guest, the full breakfast was included, both the buffet and a la carte items.
The buffet is not very varied but very qualitative, with exceptional Spanish cold cuts, excellent cheeses and a good smoked salmon.
The cut fruit platter is also excellent, the fruit is cut to perfection.
The a la carte items are also excellent: I recommend the royal eggs with salmon, very balanced (with the sauce on the side), the sausage and the churros con chocolate.
Departure
The departure formalities were simple, and completed in less than 3 minutes.
Bottom line
An excellent experience, probably the best ever in Madrid, luxurious but not dusty unlike the old Westin Palace that Bertrand and I have already tried…
