The air travel industry has always inspired the world of cinema by what it conveys in terms of emotions, fears or by the situations it allows to stage. From disaster films to romantic comedies and, the subject is at the heart of many films, with results that are, admittedly, very uneven.
Our absolutely not objective selection of 8 movies that every avgeek must have seen
Airplane ! (1980)
Because it is the first great comic success on the subject and its cult scenes. And a film that hasn’t aged that much.
Up In the Air (2009)
The cult film for “mileage runners” and other status collectors.
The Concorde… Airport ’79 (1979)
For its totally ridiculous tricks in particular when the Concorde tries to avoid a missile. A real crap despite a big cast with Alain Delon and Sylvia Kristel among others.
Top Gun (1986)
Because there is not only commercial aviation in life and for its soundtrack.

Hot Shots (1991)
Because if you liked Top Gun and Airplane! ….
Sully (2016)
Because it’s a true story and if the idea had come from a scriptwriter we would have found it unrealistic.
Boeing Boeing (1965)
Because even if it’s on the ground, there are plenty of flight attendants inside.

The play is currently being performed at the Daunou Theatre in Paris with Franck Leboeuf and we loved it
Pan Am (serie) (2011)
A series that will last only one season before going away (available in French) but that wonderfully recaptures the fantasy world of the golden age of air travel. But apart from us, was there an audience for this?
