Again as part of the same New York business trip, I stayed at the W Hoboken. Some will say “it’s not New York”. Sure, but it’s really in front and the PATH takes me to Soho, where my client is located, in 8 minutes. That is, in less time than a midtown hotel. And given the previous days’ mediocre experiences at W Times Square and Element Times Square, I opted for New Jersey instead. And I was not disappointed.
Booking
I made the reservation, as usual, on the SPG website, this time a bit last minute and in replacement of the Sheraton Tribeca, surely very good but mostly very full, which never bodes well for an optimal customer experience for loyal customers.
At less than $230+tax, the rate is very affordable and I don’t hesitate a second.
Arrival
A few hours before my arrival, my reservation is updated by the hotel and reflects a superb upgrade to a Fantastic Suite, one of the best in the property, presaging an exceptional stay.
In the late afternoon, I arrived at the hotel using the PATH, a subway that serves New Jersey and especially Hoboken. Very efficient and compatible with the MetroCard. After a few minutes of walking, I find myself in front of the hotel, which can be identified by discreet signs and the Bliss spa, characteristic of W hotels.
The doorman welcomes me with a smile, as does the receptionist. He confirmed my upgrade to a Fantastic suite, and asked me for my preference of Platinum gift: I obviously chose the breakfast which is often the best option.
I take the opportunity to admire the lobby: sobriety and modernism summarize the incredibly elegant decoration for a hotel of the brand.
Room
The room, located on the 10th floor of the hotel, is simply beautiful.
As soon as you step through the door, you enter a spacious entrance that leads to the bedroom on the left and the lounge in front.
A first half-bathroomis available, especially for the use of the suite’s visitors.
The living room is very spacious, with a comfortable dining table, desk and lounge area.
Most importantly, it has a balcony that overlooks the entire Manhattan skyline, a view that is simply amazing.
The room is also spacious, the bed extremely comfortable and still this breathtaking view.
The bathroom is very well equipped, and includes both a shower and a tub.
To finish, here is a virtual visit of this superb suite:
Hotel facilities
As I said in the introduction, the hotel is equipped with a spa that I unfortunately did not have the time to test, for professional reasons…
Nevertheless, like every morning, I tested the gym of the property. Quite spacious, it allows you to work out facing the Manhattan skyline. You should know that as early as 5:45 am, the room was already at its maximum capacity despite the fact that it is quite a respectable size. The machines are new and therefore very convenient to use.
Restaurants
I did not have dinner at the hotel.
Nevertheless, I took advantage of my two free drinks offered at check-in to test one of the property’s bars. The waitress, who was very pleasant, served me two generous glasses of champagne, and one of the desserts on the menu:a great success, which is rare in an American hotel.
The next morning, I tested the breakfast service served in the main restaurant.
I had to go through the reception againbecause the coupon for Platinum members had not been distributed the day before…
Platinums have access to the full buffet, which was also of excellent quality for American standards. Unfortunately, and despite the very good work of my waiter, I was unable to tip, as the waiters were unable to issue zero bills.
Departure
The departure formalities were carried out without any problem, but it is with a little sadness that I leave the hotel, in which I would have liked to stay a few more nights.
The invoice sent by e-mail was correct.
Conclusion
A high quality hotel, which, even if it is not in Manhattan, offers a perfect connection and a quality of service unequalled in New York. To book without hesitation.
