It’s been 3 weeks since we said goodbye to 2024, and now it’s time to take stock and look ahead.
Before I talk more specifically about travel and loyalty programs in other posts, let’s start here with something more general.
As you have seen, 2024 has been the occasion for many trips that you have been able to follow, and whose publications you will continue to discover in 2025.
But it was also the occasion for a number of changes at different levels, which were also reflected in Travelguys’ activity.
At the end of 2023, we asked you what you wanted to see on Travelguys so that we could implement it in 2024.
And of course....we’ve done absolutely nothing and, worse still, we’ve even stopped doing things that you loved and that we used to do.
In-depth, analytical, educational articles, advice? No more
More “inside”, personal subjects? Plenty of ideas, but nothing came out.
The reason? A major case of laziness, of course.
Actually, no.
I’ll give you a rundown: a job change, waiting for a green card, relatives to help out, a baby on the way, and so on and so forth in terms of the shit that’s been flying around and, as a former french president used to say always fly in squadrons… let’s just say that, for a variety of reasons, we’ve each had to revisit our priorities and the allocation of our time.
And then there were the loyalty programs that played tricks on us, with changes that at some point made us wonder if “it’s still worth it”, if in the end it wasn’t worth getting off our feet and in any case no longer traveling just to chase this or that status.
So in 2024, we concentrated on the reviews of the trips we made, which I’d describe as “necessary”: the vacations we were able to take and business trips. The rest was put on hold on the altar of priority management until everything else returned to normal and we could finally relaunch the old themes in 2025 and keep the promises of 2023…
That’s it for the general context… we’ll get to the heart of the matter in the next few articles.
