First (short) stage of this itinerary, the lounge of the Australian airline at Heathrow, recently reopened.

As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:

Check-in and ground course

I check in for my flight the day before departure. Earlier in the week, I had completed my VeriFLY formalities via the eponymous app, allowing for online registration.

I willkeep the 1A seatchosen at the time of booking.

I leave home about two hours before the flight departure. I arrive at London Heathrow Terminal 3 about 1h45 before departure.

Since I don’t have any checked luggage, I don’t need to go to the check-in counter. Traditionally, I go to the escalators that lead to the second floor where the security check takes place… But this time, the accesses to the escalators are blocked, and all the passengers redirected to the G zone to access the second floor, because of the overcrowding of the security.

I would take 1h10 exactly to be airside, “eating” all the time planned to do lounge hopping, a practice I love to do in London Heathrow… I will nevertheless manage to visit two this time!

Location

The Qantas lounge is listed as “B” at Heathrow Terminal 3, easily accessible when accessing the concourse where the gates are located.

The reception is charming and I am invited to enter after scanning my boarding pass.

Lounge design

The design of the lounge is very elegant.

The first floor is dedicated to seated catering, unfortunately inactive at the time of my visit.

The second floor is dedicated to the lounging area, with hot and cold beverage service at the place, and a small hot and cold buffet available all day. Many types of spaces are available and there is something for everyone.

Catering

A complete catering service is available on the first floor. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to enjoy it as I arrived outside of meal times.

A small buffet is available on the second floorwith some cold and hot items for those who are hungry.

I’ll have a piece of cake to go with my coffee and Bailey’s.

Bottom line

An excellent lounge in which I will be delighted to stay longerduring my next visit.
