As part of a business trip to Paris, I booked a room in this prestigious hotel in the capital, located on Avenue George V and next to the eponymous hotel, member of the Four Seasons network.
I’ll spare you the British Airways flights and lounges now usual on TravelGuys.
Booking
I booked this hotel almost 6 weeks before my arrival in Paris, also to take advantage of an American Express promotion offering £150 back for every £450 in Marriott hotels in the Luxury category.
But the week before my arrival, I had to modify this reservation to add an extra nightbringing my stay to 3 nights in the hotel.
Arrival
I arrive in the middle of the evening by cab at the hotel. I am taken in charge by a doorman who takes care of my luggage and directs me to the reception.
The receptionist proceeds with the usual formalities, checking my identity and taking a bank imprint.
I was given an upgrade to the Macassar Suite, one of the most prestigious rooms in the hotel, with a magnificent view of the Avenue George V.
As an Ambassador benefit, I choose breakfast over points. I am also told that breakfast can be taken in the room instead of the restaurant, with a service charge of 10€.
Bedroom
My suite was located on the 2nd floor of the building
The corridors are also very elegantly decorated and in perfect condition.
The suite I stayed in was very spacious.
The entrance is alreadythe size of a small Parisian one-room apartment. It is equipped with a closet, and a coffee and drinks area. The minibar as stocked, by the way,is free, too rare at Marriott.
This entrance gives access to the living room area, which has a sofa and two large armchairs, a coffee table, a very practical secretary/desk.
A simple welcome servicewas made available to me in this lounge area.
Vient ensuite la chambre, très spacieuse également. It offers, just like the living room,a magnificent view of the Avenue George Vwith its two large windows. A balcony would have been perfect but I dream a little too much…
Facing the window, a meridienne allows you to admire the view, and on the opposite side, a very large king size bed, ultra comfortable, and large bedside tables.
A large desk is available, as well as a nice closet.
Finally, the huge bathroom is richly decorated and has two basins, a bathtub and a shower.
The only reproach, it is finally the decoration to be improved by Pierre-Yves Rochon, the carpet already passed after 8 years of exploitation, as well as the walls in “baby linen” blue.
Finally, the virtual visit in video:
Hotel facilities
The hotel is equipped with a fitness room and a spa studiofor treatments. I won’t be using either of them this time unfortunately.
Restaurants
Since the departure of chef Stéphanie Le Quellec from the restaurant La Scène, the hotel has been struggling to open a real restaurant in the hotel. Meanwhile, all catering is done at the hotel bar.
Breakfast service at the bar
Breakfast is served at the bar from 7am to 10:30am every day. The menu is quite large, and the price is only 49€.
I will order scrambled eggs with salmon, a plate of smoked salmon, fruit and a basket of bread and pastries.
Everything was very good, butthe service was very slow. Not suitable for breakfast.
Room service breakfast
Two of the three mornings, I ordered room service breakfast… Well it wasn’t much better, many items were missing, especially the first morning.
Bar service
With a friend, we had a drink at the bar the last night. Perfect and attentive service, but the terrace was empty.
Room service for dinner
The night I arrived and the following night,I ordered room service. Everything was very good, but 45 minutes of waiting is too much.
Departure
The late paperwork took a while due to errors on my invoice, but everything was handled with courtesy.
Conclusion
An excellent stay, a good service even if the training must accelerate in this post-COVID period.
