Qatar Airways has just begun operating the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with a new business class suite. It has a total capacity of 311 seats – 30 suites in business class and 281 seats in economy class.
The Business class suite, designed by Adient Ascent, is laid out in a herringbone, 1-2-1 configuration, with each suite having direct access to the aisle and a sliding door to guarantee the ultimate in privacy and comfort. Passengers seated in adjacent central suites can slide the divider panels at the touch of a button to create their own private space. Once the seat is in the reclining position, it transforms into a completely flat 2m bed.
It also features wireless charging for mobile devices.
Few photos of this cabin have been circulating so far, so we’re eagerly awaiting the first photos taken by passengers to give us a clearer idea of this product, which has the onerous task of having to stand comparison with the famous QSuite installed on certain other aircraft in the fleet.
What can be said from the photos is that the spirit of the cabin seems to have been preserved, even if the narrower width of the 787 has logically necessitated the design of a new, wider and less spacious product. On the other hand, some passengers will appreciate that all the seats face in the direction of flight, unlike the QSuite where the window seats face in the opposite direction.
Of course, we’ll have to test it out to get a clear idea, but everything suggests that Qatar Airways will undoubtedly continue to offer one of the best business products on the market, if not the best.
