Vaccination will be central to restarting tourism, and airlines have a vested interest in getting as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible. So they try, at their level, to contribute to vaccination campaigns by offering certain benefits to vaccinated passengers.
10% discount at Indigo
The Indian airline Indigo is offering a 10% discount on all its flights this summer to passengers who have received their two shots.
When booking, passengers must enter their beneficiary identification number (printed on the vaccination certificate) to check their status. At the airport, travelers must present their vaccination certificate or proof obtained through the Indian contact tracing application, the local Tousanticovid.
Raffle and free flights with United
United organized a big raffle for its customers who checked-in proof of vaccination in the airline’s application. A draw enabled 30 lucky people to win a round trip for two anywhere in the USA.
Then a second draw enabled 5 customers to win a whole year of free flights for themselves and the person of their choice.
Cathay Pacific offers a private flight for vaccinated passengers
Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific has also pulled out all the stops. The airline also organized a prize draw in which the winners were able to win a flight and a “private party” on board the airline’s brand new Airbus A321neo!
The airline also awarded miles: ten winners will each receive one million miles, while 100 others will receive 100,000.
Hong Kong airport offers free tickets
Although the vaccination campaign is going well in Hong Kong, the Airport Authority has decided to give it a boost by raffling off 50,000 tickets to its residents and 10,000 to airline employees.
Staff gifts at United too
At United, they don’t just look after their customers, they look after their staff too. Thus, pilots who were vaccinated before the summer received the equivalent of 13 hours extra pay, and cabin crew received 3 days extra paid vacation.
And in Europe?
As usual, European airlines are a little behind the times, and not at all creative in this area. Because vaccination campaigns work too well?
