Review: Singapore Airlines Silverkris First Class lounge in Singapore (T2)

In connection to Singapore from Bali in business class on Singapore Airlines and before leaving to Frankfurt in First Class on Lufthansa I had 8 hours of connection to kill. After strolling around the famous Jewel, I went to kill the last few hours in the Singapore Airlines First lounge in Terminal 2, which welcomes, among others, Lufthansa First Class passengers.

Who has access to the Silverkris First Class lounge in Singapore?

The Silverkris First class lounge theoretically welcomes Singapore Airlines First and Suites passengers…who never go there! They have the beautiful Private Room and have no interest in going here. It also welcomes the PPS Club and Solitaire PPS Club members of the Singaporean airline.

And finally, it welcomes First passengers from Star Alliance airlines…so you will see passengers from all airlines except for a few from Singapore Airlines.

Where is the Silverkris First Class lounge in Singapore located?

In terminal 2 just after the emigration gates. You have to go upstairs, past the Krisflyer Gold lounge (for Star Alliance Gold passengers) and you arrive at the Silverkris Lounge. At the reception desk, depending on your travel class, you will be directed to the Silverkris Business lounge if you are in Business (on the left) and the Silverkris First lounge if you are in First.

The layout of the Silverkris First Class lounge in Singapore

Once past the entrance you find two offices with airline staff in charge of customer service. After this point you will not see anyone from Singapore Airlines, just employees of the catering company.

I move forward and I find a bar…the floor is more premium than the business side and this white marble imitation. This is a good sign.

Then I arrive directly in the catering area. There’s plenty of room but honestly it looks like a canteen.

We’ll see the buffet later.

On the side a huge room.

A single small row of solo seats facing each other.

I finish with the TV area..

Finally, there are a few work spaces that I forgot to immortalize.

So let’s start with the good points, it’s less dense than the business lounge and it’s not blind. And? That’s all.

Even if the design is less Singapore Airlines, I find it less beautiful than the business lounge. It doesn’t look premium, it even looks old and worn. In short, quite disappointing to say the least.

Catering at the Silverkris First Class lounge in Singapore

Let’s take a look at the buffet.

Crudités that don’t look like much.

Donuts that look like they’ve been waiting for hours.

Hot dishes: noodles, shrimps, fish, rice, soup ….

Really not appetizing, little meat (even the byriani was made of tofu…) and very average in taste.

Fruits and desserts. No comment.

In addition to the bar, there is a large fridge for soft drinks.

I forgot the pictures but there were a few bottles of spirits and wine on a self service basis. Or rather, left abandoned, 3/4 empty or worse, and when they were finished it took a long time for someone to notice and change them. What is unacceptable in the Air France lounge in 2F at CDG is even less so here.

A really average or even disappointing offer for a First Class lounge. The business lounge made me a much better impression.

The staff and service at the Silverkris First Class lounge in Singapore

If we talk about the Singapore Airlines staff, they are exquisite at the reception. Then there is the customer service which I did not need. And that’s it.

In the room we only see the staff of the supplier in charge of the lounge. Very present to fill the buffet, less for the empty bottles.

Highly annoying detail: a staff member was going around the lounge with a cart to clear the tables all the time. It didn’t matter if there were customers or not, he was circling. I felt very sorry for him because he was obviously old and his cart was more of a walker than anything else.

But even if you had a full plate in front of you, he would stop at almost every table to ask “are you done? At the end of the 10th time we are really fed up.

I do not even mention the announcements with the microphone made regularly whereas the trend is definitely with the “quiet lounges” without announcements.

Service not up to par for a First lounge.

My opinion

Very very disappointing. Disappointing for Singapore Airlines, disappointing for First, so bad when you put the two together. I wonder if I should have gone back to the business lounge.

To be clear, this is as good as the most average Air France long-haul business lounges. It does not compare to the Air France La Première lounge or the Lufthansa First Class Terminal in Frankfurt.

But since its customers do not go there, I think that Singapore Airlines does not care.

A more than ordinary experience, especially when the airline is Singapore Airlines. This shows that they too are capable of doing mediocre work.
