Review : Turkish Airlines Classic plus and Elite Lounge Izmir

I already showed you the Turkish Airlines Business Class lounge in Izmir, here is its little brother located right next door: the Elite lounge, dedicated to “low-status” passengers who do not travel in business class. This lounge is for domestic flights

Who has access to the lounge

As the name suggests, Elite members of the Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles frequent flyer program. Elite Plus members, business passengers and Star Alliance Gold members have access to the other, slightly larger premium lounge. Technically speaking a gold could have access to both lounges but will prefer the other, more premium one, unless it is too full.

Location of the lounge

The lounge is located “airside” in the domestic terminal, i.e. after the security controls. You have to go almost to the end of the terminal to find it (turn right after the security checkpoint) and then go down one level to return to the first floor.

Lounge layout

Smaller than its neighbor, it has only one space, in one piece, where the other one makes an “L”.

Unlike the other lounge where all the tones match, here the red bench is a bit of a clash. Overall the look is less premium as if this one was a little older and worn, without it being catastrophic either. Just a matter of perception.

Of course, it has work spaces.

Not much to add, it remains clean and very well made.

Food

Turkish Airlines does not usually impress on the catering offer in its domestic lounges and this is once again the case (visit the lounge this time at breakfast time)

Here is the buffet:

There are fruits,

…. and pastries.

As for drinks, tea, coffee, some soft drinks and no alcohol.

It remains light, very light and not at the level one can expect from such an airline.

Services

We have of course toilets (very clean), showers and, without, surprise, no spa.

It is beautiful.

But the best service provided by the lounge is, like the business lounge in Izmir and the domestic lounges in Istanbul, the transfer by bus to the planes without having to go through the terminal again.

There is only to wait that the board announces the boarding (not that of the flight but that of the bus which arrives in general 5 to 10 min later) and we join a bus which brings us to the bottom of the plane.

Conclusion

A clean lounge, which does the job, with a catering offer again too limited. We appreciate on the other hand the boarding by bus.
